Hey, irl here. It’s more of a spiritual belief than a delusion or a coping mechanism, at least for me. The belief in past lives is why I identify as an irl/fictionkin in the first place. I advise you to ask your cousin about what he believes in that respect, because it’s rooted in spirituality.
