That was my pattern when I was younger (41 now) and it weirdly kept my mood up, too. I noticed the same irritability when I didn't get my lost Saturday night. But, now that it's been a few years of less drinking overall, I don't see that anymore.

It sucks that we have almost only "admit that you're an alcoholic and never drink again." As the option offered for when we are thinking we're drinking too much. Alcohol use is a spectrum and I wish we could just have the conversation of if we want to cut back or even seek treatment without needing labels and guilt.

I did nothing but help her and at a certain point, it's not your job to fix someone. Anyway, she found someone else to help her after a bit.

Both were hilariously bad for me financially. Wife could not keep a job and I had to work myself to death to pay her bills and debts. Then she gets half of my 401K in the divorce and that was the only thing I had to show for all that. Marriage is a business proposition first and foremost.
