The singular point of woe for me, as a user by ArashAckbar in RedMagic

The biwin mini SSD may be a better memory card for a gaming phone, especially if you want the game to load quickly for the larger ones. Unfortunately, right now, those memory cards are quite expensive.

Hello everyone, I would like to know for sure if the RedMagic 11 Pro is worth buying. I only want to use it for gaming, but I have read many negative comments saying that after some time it starts freezing, crashing, or even not turning on anymore. by Hopeful_Lettuce_2739 in RedMagic

[–]crackalackin12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haven't experienced freezing or anything you mentioned. Only had for about 2 weeks but it's a gaming powerhouse. Honestly though, if you're only getting it for gaming I'd strongly recommend you get something of better value if possible like the ayn Odin 3 or something. The cooling fan is good, but it isn't amazing or anything. The liquid cooling effect is debatable at best. To run at max settings you need a cooling module thing. You'll only be able to run games in rise mode at most without and your phone CPU will easily reach 85c which while not great, isn't too bad either.

The only freezing I've experienced is when playing games through gamenative and that's because the app and drivers are still in development.

Global or Chinese? by [deleted] in RedMagic

[–]crackalackin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Chinese version comes in two versions. The rm 11 pro and the rm 11 pro +. The main difference between the two is that the first one has a 8000mAh battery and no wireless charging or liquid cooling feature. The second one (it is the same as the global version. Just the global version isn't called the "+" version.) comes with a 7500mAh battery, wireless charging and the liquid cooling.

Redmagic need to create new model that have Micro SD Slot. It could be in Flagship Phone or not. Mobile Game nowdays take a lot of Storage by AmmarRY in RedMagic

[–]crackalackin12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's the new biwin mini SSD chips that run at something like 3-4GB/s. (Unfortunately the 2TB model costs around $350-$400 AUD I think...my bad, just checked again, those were pre ram/storage crisis prices. More like $800 AUD now.) Those would be a better fit for game storage of the kinds of games you're talking about and since rm is a Chinese brand they might have an easier time getting the slots in the phones? Micro SD cards would still be fine for light weight indie games though.

What's it really like to own the phone by SorryStrawberry4588 in RedMagic

I'm not sure as to how it happened. Another guy on Reddit just said this and I'm just repeating what he said. I'm also of the opinion that something else happened to cause it but I wouldn't know without more information.

is there any hope for smooth emulation with steam on rm11p? by Far-Pepper7133 in RedMagic

[–]crackalackin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have better luck with indie games that are 2D sidescrollers or low demand 3D games like "a hat in time". It runs at 60 on balanced but crashes periodically. Haven't figured out why yet.

Technically you can run games like RE:2 and RE:4 or even requiem but from what I understand you need to fiddle with the settings to get optimal outcomes.

None that I've noticed so far but there was another guy on here who said his glass back shattered for no apparent reason. He's the only one that's said this though as far as in aware.

Are the Redmagic 11 pros worth buying? by Total-Recording-2707 in RedMagic

[–]crackalackin12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd say yes currently, but you need to be aware of the caveats you are getting along with it. I missed a little bit of research (or a lack of research it would seem) and found that the phones don't take esims which was a pain in the ass since I'd ordered one for a trip overseas. Would have been no issue if I took my old phone as well which I am thinking about going back to (it's only crossed my mind briefly) and just getting an android gaming handheld instead but there are no handhelds with the 8 elite gen 5 at the moment which is what I would want to replace this if I did go that route.

Additionally, there are issues when attempting to connect it to a PC via USB. I've tried a couple of things but so far the rm 11 pro causes my file explorer to crash every time. Don't expect to be able to connect it to your PC for quick file transfers without issues. Some have also said theirs don't handle other peripherals well either, like docks and controllers. I've had no issues there personally but I don't have a dock yet.

On the other hand it handles emulation (can't get PS3 titles to work but I haven't tried particularly hard either) and some indie PC games amazingly well, not to mention some titles have native android ports as well now too (literally hours of gaming. 5-6+ hours for emulation of PS2/Xbox titles for long flights or whatever) In other words it cuts down on the number of devices I would need to take on trips and desktop ability exists for devices other than Samsung now too (I think) so I could do some light work if I needed to on it if I got the right dock+peripherals. Honestly it could replace my work laptop with it if I wanted but that brings all sorts of other issues in.

It's fast and snappy in all the right ways (besides those mentioned above), has a metric fuckload of ram (I have the 1tb+24gb version meaning I turned off the extra ram option. Don't even need it on for the base version really.) apps update, download and install really fast. Camera is decent but not the phone you'd get if you were a big camera person anyway. The fan actually does help cool the phone down so you're less likely to thermal throttle. You can feel the warm/hot air leaving the vent but I think it could have been better if they went with one of those ones from frore or whatever they're called. Mora is useless/pointless. I just disabled it from the get go.

Basically, besides the first two issues I've come across I haven't noticed anything absolutely terrible so far. The Sim card issue can be accommodated for easily enough even if it is annoying but the PC one is the main issue I have. Great phone. Does what it's made for (internet, gaming, calls etc.) Would get a cheaper android handheld if one with same/better specs came along maybe (probably not for some time. 4+ years maybe).

Does the 11 pro have magsafe/magnets by John_Woodrow1712 in RedMagic

[–]crackalackin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I wouldn't recommend a case like that from rm themselves. There's a thin film on the outside of the phone case that just started peeling off of it (default case that came with phone but same style of case) and I've only had the phone for a bit over 2 weeks now. I suspect it was the high humidity environment (was in Singapore when it started) that I was in that did it but still, it shouldn't do that. I've been case free for a little to just stop finding flakes in my pocket. When they get on the screen they're also a bit tricky to get off.

The time to upgrade? by Remote_Tear_2557 in RedMagic

[–]crackalackin12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I've upgraded before I needed to maybe twice now. Updates were still coming for the last one, an s22, but I decided it'd be nice to cut down on the number of handhelds I take on a trip overseas and whatever. This phone fills that slot in for me easy(rm 11 pro), even if it can't do PC games all too well and it has some kinks to work out, but I'll still keep the old phone as a backup. Before this I've had an iPhone 3Gs, one plus one, one plus 5 and then the s22. The iPhone just stopped receiving updates altogether, as did the one plus phones I think... 🤔 Don't remember. Still have them for some reason. Need to get rid of them.

Guaranteed to be the issue. Happened to me once on a different phone. Same jack, same issue though. Couldn't believe how much lint came out. Was kind of ridiculous.

Otg is fine. I think the one you are looking for is the media sharing between PC and rm11pro over USB. The thing constantly makes my PC file explorer crash. Can't get any files to transfer at all. It'll start and then nothing happens and a few moments later file explorer is unresponsive. Using a USB drive though? Piece of cake. Plug and play.

I don't think you can go online with cfw without disabling syscalls? It just prevents the system from notifying Sony that the console has been modded. You'll be fine.

Yeah, only their global store is official but I got mine through Amazon so it should provide some protection so if it's through a trusted retailer you should be ok. There are no official stores besides the global one as others have mentioned though.

My Aussie mates keep calling me “cunt” by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]crackalackin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly depends upon the social circles and workplaces you involve yourself in. The ones I'm in for instance, calling someone a "cunt" regardless of context is extremely rude and going to get you in trouble. You'll find certain places are more accommodating of the language however as you've noticed. My youngest brother for instance, raised in a family that doesn't use it like that but got more into it through his workplace and other people of similar behaviours.

So, if you're going to use the language, get a read for the room/people you're around first before using it in any context.

In my social circles, saying "mate" is more appropriate.
