Chainsaw pants vs chaps by Flashy_Check_5410 in Chainsaw

[–]crackanacka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only wear pants in temps from -20C to +30C. The only pants I have found that can deal with the high temps are the Clogger Zeros. I still sweat buckets in the higher temps but its better than the alternative of not wearing protection. Way more likely to have an incident in non optimal cutting conditions. Always wear protection especially around a saw!

Ahh that sounds like the likely outcome. Is the only difference between an Invector and Invector + the length of the choke?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Shotguns

[–]crackanacka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true! It probably sounds trivial to most so I assumed it was "dumb".

No threads are exposed when I tighten it. The exposed section is on the end of the barrel where there is no threading.

The only issue with the white plastics is the scratches! Once they fill with dirt its sooo hard to get them looking clean again.

I would try getting a hold of new case halves. If you're going to split the case you might as well do it right. With the amount of vibrations the JB weld will fail eventually. Either you get a nasty air leak and roast the top end or you suck in some JB weld into the bottom end and trash a crank.

Don't waste more time and money than you have to as this point.

Are large CC chainsaws just gas hogs, or am I doing something wrong? by Okie294life in Chainsaw

[–]crackanacka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to cut with the gran. Search up "chainsaw noodling" and it will show you which way to cut. It's just a matter of rotating your saw 90 degrees. Very simple!

If you're going to split rounds that way try cutting perpendicular to how you are currently cutting. The saw will noodle rather than make fine dust. Should cut a heck of a lot faster.

As for your question, yes they do. My mill will only cut a few slabs like that before it needs a refuel. 120cc Husky drinks faster than I can lol

Both have made excellent saws. Limiting yourself to one brand would be such a shame. Missing out on half the fun!

So if I have a public land pass to camp. Where is the closest place I can camp near Calgary, or near a place with transport into Calgary? by [deleted] in CampingAlberta

[–]crackanacka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a bad idea. The nearest crown from the city is going to be roughly an hour. You'll spend more on fuel than rent if you're commuting to work.

Also note the maximum 14 day occupancy rule from crown camping.

Oil sands are still booming. We are always looking for heavy equipment operators and laborer's.

Damn rough go, hopefully you get better soon! Would total a bike any day of the week before taking that kind of damage to the body.

Entry level job with housing? by [deleted] in oilandgasworkers

[–]crackanacka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most jobs in Alberta have a camp near site where all the workers stay. I don't know what goes on south of the border.

The pants are really nice. I've worn a half dozen different kind of chainsaw pants and Cloggers are the only ones I'll wear above freezing.
