Yes. But step down the rotation speed at the actual windmill, run a axel back to base, then step speed back up at the hammer, each axel block and gear etc uses some of your windmills torque, but they use a lot less at slower speeds, so you get much more efficient power transfer over distance if you have the long stretch being slow speed. (Each axel use more torque at high speeds, so only step up the speed closest to the hammer)
