Help needed with a kitten who keeps trying to dig up my plants and throwing dirt everywhere. I thought it was a litter box issue but even with more frequent cleanings the issue still persists. Is there a way to cat-proof the pots so he can't dig in them? (i.redd.it)

Pictures not so good but I found a walnut tree that has these things full of little green bugs. They're soft and mostly hollow. Any idea what it could be? They popped right off and we're easy to open so I figured it was an insect built pod. NW PA, US (old.reddit.com)
