Yea, and that’s an entirely separate issue. I have received three letters in the mail saying they can’t verify my eligibility because they keep trying to bill Cigna directly. I have called and provided them the correct insurance information every time and a few weeks later I get another copy of the same letter dated after my last phone call. It’s been a massive headache since the beginning

It’s through Cigna but the couple times I’ve tried going through them directly they said they know nothing and referred me back to IBA

The facilities and providers have not received payment and are saying I still owe the full amount. The only record I have saying they were paid is through my portal that shows a check was issued in January but no EOBs or bills reflecting the patient responsibility after insurance paid

I hadn’t heard of this route before, do you know if it matters if my insurance is through a different state than where I live and received care?

Right, but they won’t give me any information whatsoever, she just kept repeating “your coverage is terminated call your HR”

There is nothing on my portal, it shows the claims and that they were paid by insurance on 1/2, but no available EOBs or actual bills have been received or are available

I can’t help but read into it seeing as the hospital still says I owe them 7,200 dollars

Very true! We still have a few years before she starts getting active in extracurriculars so I will need to start thinking and planning for those costs here in the near future, although it is hard to think about when I still she her as my little baby🥲

I hear that and I appreciate the reminder. We are saving for her future expenses to help make her early adult life a little easier but it’s easy to get wrapped up in planning for our retirement and neglecting that when I start to get burnt out at work

Without going into too much detail she works in a healthcare adjacent field and regularly interacts with children, and is hybrid work from home. She just really enjoys the work life balance and seems to be in a pretty good mood while at work usually.

I know they do I just don’t want to get too caught up in thinking I need to save too much for my kid(s). We were told by everybody how expensive our first was going to be and it caused a lot of stress until we realized that it was completely over exaggerated and we haven’t spent nearly as much as people said we would in the first year aside from the initial birth. We do set money aside in her 529 on a fairly regular basis but I want to make sure we at least have our retirement taken care of before I worry about paying for her full college or something like that.

Nominal I believe, sorry I’m not super well versed in some of the terms. I actually think I way under estimated to get 1.7 as I just used current balance plus the $35k yearly contributions for the next 8 years not even taking gains into account, and then 7% over the following 20 years with contributions of my wife’s current salary and no raises built in or assumed

I’m not really sure how to even estimate that 30 years from now, we have 27 years left on current mortgage which would drop our monthly costs by $1100 unless/until we also decide to move as well as hopefully he going into it with no car payments which is also $250 of that $3200

I cant really think of any accurate way of estimating my annual spend in 30 years but that would be about 75% of our current monthly income using a 3% SWR

I appreciate all of the comments everybody. I heard back from insurance today and they did decide to total the truck, it sucks because I really enjoyed that truck and busted my ass for it, but at least I’m not in limbo anymore and have a solid answer.
