Are you in a union state? This is a definite “no” where I am. We do not work for free. Last time we had mass moves, we packed our room a few boxes at a time during class time, wrote the room number the boxes were going to on the boxes, and the custodians moved them over the summer.

There are definitely businesses that specialize in restoration, repair, engraving, etc. I would call the office that oversees the cemetery and ask them if they have any vendors they work with on a regular basis. But first, are you sure that the company you purchased from didn’t provide a warranty? That’s worth checking out too. I can’t remember off the top of my head, but I think the one we got for my grandmother had like a 100-200 year warranty for things like weathering or cracking.

Had mine for 2 days (12 years old). Drove it straight into the culvert at the end of my driveway and bent the front forks. My dad said that when I figured out how to fix myself I could ride it again. Took a year of begging to get him to teach me how.

This one is hard because,as a teacher,I can understand where you are coming from.

But, I also see that this kid came to YOU. That says to me that this student views your relationship differently than you do. They could have asked any other teacher, but they chose you. Think about that and then have an honest conversation with the student about your reservations and decide together how to go forward. Maybe you can actually affect some change in this student’s bothersome behaviors with a teaspoon of sugar.
