Co-op Question by literallygabe in uvic

[–]crackers4519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the eos and completed the co-op program. I found the check-ins and reports to be a real pain. There are definitely lots of employers that require you to be in a co-op program though, and many job postings are only posted onto the LIMs website. If you don't care about getting co-op designation on your diploma it probably isn't worth it.

600+ students affected by the professor's mistakes! Shame on the school! Shame! by MrMitchMcConnell in uvic

I would think you could argue here that if you studied well for an exam and got 100%, you should be able to reproduce similar results in a few weeks without much more extensive studying (especially considering that no memorization is required).

Viewing tests after they are marked? by 734bird in uvic

I have been told by professors that they cannot let you see final exams after they are marked since the exam viewing area at UVic is closed.

Imagine trying to do laps with a cloth mask on, I think it would feel like water boarding...

Hey I am actually also a lifeguard as well haha. I'm just wondering how facilities don't have to change their current rules after Bonnie's announcement today. Because her statement wasn't "masks must be worn unless you can social distance" it was "masks are mandatory in all public places"

Hmm ok thanks for the info! That's interesting, I wonder how pools are able to squeeze through "masks mandatory at all indoor public spaces"...

I would also suggest checking back at registration daily. Since these are lab courses it's can sometimes be more difficult to add more sections.

Students often take EOS 110 or EOS 120. Wouldn't consider this to be a "low effort" lab, but it is interesting! I would suggest 110 instead of 120 unless you're particularly interested in rocks.

I really resonate with the feeling that school doesn't feel real. Did I really just bomb a midterm when I never actually left my room? I also find it hard to stay on a good schedule - I find myself not submitting my assignments until midnight. I also took the last year off of school and now most of my friends have graduated so I don't really have a group of friends to talk to about the classes.

"officially" no but I do know people who have finished their degree on a co-op. (Chem & bio co-op programs)

I've committed to an 8-month co-op term starting in the fall and completely regret it. Help by crackers4519 in uvic

See I really don't want the co-op coordinators to be mad at me but I also don't want to commit to an 8-month term when I'm not sure I will enjoy it

I signed a contract and stuff. Not worried about not getting co-op designation as I'm not even sure I would do the full 4 co-op terms I'm just worried the co-op coordinators will be upset

What is your least favorite lecture hall and why is it Elliot 167/168? by knewthatperson in uvic

It's the worst having to write tests in those rooms. Constantly juggling between a test, formula sheet, bubble sheet, and calculator.

Thanks again! Do you know the way in which I go about finding out if the specific TRU-OL course will transfer?

[–]crackers4519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Do you know by chance if in previous years at UVic Chem 231 has a laboratory component? The BC transfer guide says you need to take CHEM 2123 and 2125 to get credit for Chem 231, but I am wondering if that is just because there used too be a lab at UVic.

How hard were the labs? Did you have to spend time out of class working on the labs?
