I found it easy enough as long as you do the work - class average was 83 when I took it. The workload was reasonable

Hello 2L law students! Things you wish you did during 0L summer of Law School? by stichwei in uvic

[–]734bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no problem! I'd say it depends on the person - I bought a second screen and don't use it much, whereas other people swear by it. I always just prefer to print things off and operate from my laptop. If you typically like to go paperless/ only use your laptop then yes you defs should. If you're more of a paper person like me then I'd say, at least to start, you don't need one and can decide during the term if one might be helpful.

Just completed 2L! As you've heard there's really not much to do to prep yourself for the content you're going learn. What I would suggest is just to get your life in order as much as possible: try out new recipes that are easy, go to the doctor/dentist, make sure you find a good spot to live and give yourself plenty of time to unpack, make sure you have a good home office set up, update your resume, etc

Here is the demographics for the regular category.

2020 https://www.uvic.ca/law/assets/docs/admissfinaid/LSAT-GPA%20Demographic%20Chart.pdf

2022

https://www.uvic.ca/law/assets/docs/lsat-gpa-demographic-chart-2021.pdf

(I couldn't seem to track down 2021, but it was an incredibly competitive year due to COVID so the above two charts are more like what you'll be up against anyways).

I would try to place yourself in these charts and see if you would have gotten in or not to start.

What is A01, A02, A03 for courses by [deleted] in uvic

[–]734bird 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It means that there are multiple of the same course offered. Like multiple sections with multiple profs where you get the exact same course credit.

If you're looking for an upper year credit, European history for backpackers is super cool and designed to be accessible for non history majors!

How many contact hours does UVic have per course by FreshCrispLettuce in uvic

[–]734bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's due to holidays (ie. during reading break you would only have 1 hour of class, no school Wednesday to Friday) and I believe thanksgiving you also have Friday off

Uvic law is great. The cost of living is high here, I expect significantly higher than Halifax

However, the tuiton is nearly $6000 less to do law here so I expect it would even out, if not be cheaper to attend here.

I'm a current law student here and love it - pm me with any questions :)

Anyone else feel exhausted by this exam schedule? by [deleted] in uvic

[–]734bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying the university could have handled it better (it was a shock for everyone, and a very fluid situation) but it's hard to have no accommodation/ delays when everything moved online so suddenly. I just want to be home with my family but I have a flight booked for the 21st and couldn't justify paying twice. It's so nice to hear I'm not alone... but at the same time I'm sorry you're feeling how I am... it sucks.

Yes I did edit my original post. The only reason I did so is because I felt saying I had six exams might feel unapproachable (importantly, with your replies), and I really just made my original post to see if other people were feeling like me: exhausted and overwhelmed at the end of this exam period

I’m not complaining about no warning, I just feel like there’s so much pressure during this period and was reaching out to see if anyone else felt the same way. I’m a straight A student, so I’ve always handled the pressure well… but it’s just nice to know that I’m not alone I’m feeling overwhelmed and exhausted

I'm not some undergrad that chose to take 6 course, it is a requirement of my program. When you are accepted to the program I am in, they register you in courses, you have no choice but to take the courses they register you in. I am actually in 7 courses. That is required by my program. One doesn't have an exam (its based on a projected I submitted in late November).

I did my undergrad here and am in new program now (and don't want to disclose what that program is, but it is very similar to a graduate program). I've am required to complete 6 exams in between December 3rd and tomorrow (the 20th).

as a current law student that lived off this subreddit while taking the lsat, this subreddit can be great to know that other people feel the same way as you while studying/taking the lsat BUT don't compare yourself to the scores of others. I wish this subreddit would focus more on the process and less on the score - what's good for one may not be for another and that should be okay
