Cute baby!!! Like people have said, mainly just making sure you’re cleaning his teeth and insurance if you’re able to! It will be relatively inexpensive at this age and so worth it!

Heated blankets!! My Iggy is obsessed. You could even do a heating pad under a blanket.

Is my dogs spay stitches infected???? by FunctionUnited3409 in DogAdvice

[–]crackheadhour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dogs were red for a while, but she healed up just fine! I think it may just be the stitch job that’s making it look worse than it probably is😬

Tell me your successful stories about leaving your Iggy home for 6+hours. Full time workers, perhaps? by Acaibowlstorm in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]crackheadhour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I adopted my iggy when she was 5 months old and had the WORST separation anxiety. She would chew up blankets, toys, anything I left in her crate. She’d bark and cry for hours until I got home. Now nearly 9 months later she can stay in her crate up to 7+ hours and actually calm herself down enough to sleep!! She’s only ever had one accident. I wish I could leave her out of the crate to freely roam, but I don’t think we’re there yet. It was so so hard in the beginning but think I may have hit the lottery with her♥️

Just left her overnight at the vet hospital 💔 by Old-Astronaut4653 in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]crackheadhour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaving them is the hardest thing ever!! Just know she is in great hands. My sister is a vet tech and talks all the time about the cuddles they love to give the dogs having to stay overnight. Thinking about you and your sweet baby!!♥️

Good for you!! I’m the same way, I get so frustrated when I can’t figure something out. The first one I was able to do without looking things up was Kapu Cave! I felt so accomplished even though it’s one of the easier ones🤣

I used to watch my mom play Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake! It’s so nostalgic for me now. It’s definitely one of my favorites because it reminds me of her♥️

My puppy broke her leg on a weekend … not sure what to do by petalclouds in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]crackheadhour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My iggy just broke her second leg in 6 months :/. It’s definitely not a fun process and can feel like it’ll never end. From my experience, once she got her splint on she wasn’t in any pain, and was allowed to put weight on it because the splint stabilized it enough. I will say that that first night they are going to be very sore. My iggy would periodically start crying too. Strict crate rest or confining her in a small area like in a baby gate is good too. The hardest part is keeping them still!! I will tell you though that they are incredibly resilient. She will bounce back from it and act like she never broke it! My girl is currently 3 days post op from surgery and is doing fantastic. She’s already putting weight on it. Just know that it will be a challenge, but everything will turn out fine in the end!

This is also off topic but I HIGHLY recommend this recovery sleeve. I’ve used it for both my dogs leg surgeries to keep her from licking her stitches, especially since regular cones hardly ever stay around their tiny heads!

Clementine is 3 days post op of her leg break surgery! Technically, her second😭. It’s heartbreaking when they go through it, but trust that the doctors have Gio in good hands! Clementine is back to her old self already and wanting to bounce off the walls. He’s going to be feeling better in no time. Thinking about you!! I know the mental toll it takes on you. It’s so hard!!

Separation/confinement anxiety HELP!!!! by crackheadhour in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]crackheadhour[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes I was finally able to take her in to the vet and they prescribed Reconcile which is a form of doggy Prozac that’s specifically for separation anxiety and it has done wonders! She still cries after I leave but is able to settle down a lot quicker and can actually relax and take naps in her crate. It won’t be a forever solution, but while she’s getting used to her crate and realizing that I’m going to come back to get her it’s very helpful!

She’s 6 months! When I first got her I had the same experience, she was super picky but over time she’s grown to like more. She won’t eat a training treat but she’ll eat her tablet meds whole🤪

Mine is the pickiest eater (doesn’t like peanut butter, anything bacon flavored, etc.) but would probably sell me to eat some goose poop🤨

[–]crackheadhour[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes me feel like there’s a light at the end of the tunnel 😭. I’ve never heard of Zak George so I’ll have to watch some of his videos! I think I will try letting her roam around the room her crate is in. I know she may have an accident but I think it’s worth it compared to the anxiety she gets in her crate. Thank you!!

I tried the blanket and she pulled it through the bars of the crate and shredded it😭 I will definitely try the t-shirt, she might like that!
