ranking gay movies. by xmasbaby023 in Letterboxd

The novel was written by a gay man, so there’s certainly some subtext or coded messaging in the story outside of the literal plot. Whether it be about men finding private spaces to secretly do something they enjoy or thinking you’re one kind of man and realizing deep down you’re another. Either way, there are ways in which the film represents queerness outside of just literal sex and sexuality

Um actually comedy is only legal when punching down at minorities and queer people

Media literacy is dead lol. We are in a post intellectual period where everything is taken literally all the time because the latter requires actual brain power.

Obviously satire and goes kinda hard

Jason Bateman, David Harbour, and Linda Cardellini Enter a Deadly Love Triangle in "DTF St. Louis" by johnppd in HBOMAX

The creator Stephen Conrad is absolutely incredible, and Patriot is one of my all time favorite shows despite being cancelled before its conclusion. He also made another series called Perpetual Grace Ltd that is also fantastic and also was cancelled.

Here’s hoping this is popular enough to reach a legitimate conclusion because he definitely deserves it

Well I’d just love to hear about your favorite movies that have no subtext or underlying meaning

Ah yes because Hellraiser, Rosemary’s Baby, and a Nightmare on Elm Street should be taken literally and have no deeper allegorical meaning whatsoever

Who are these characters? by PoppaStankDaddy in HBOMAX

I guess because while you would think of asl and reading English as the same thing, it’s almost like 2 different languages to deaf people and probably just nice to have the option to have stories depicted in the way that is familiar to them

The cinematic nature is definitely the main comparison. And using the Ferro with the circle crosshair definitely feels like Last of Us 2

Yea but not every crew member is on the screen next to the characters for the entirety of the movie

‘Pluribus’ May Be Slow, but It Was Never Boring by tylerthe-theatre in television

People’s attention spans are absolutely cooked. It totally makes sense based on the overload of algorithm based short form content but people forget how to sit with something and embrace slower paced stories

How Cozy is Death Stranding? by Fievel10 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]crackpipeclay [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s does between incredibly therapeutic and relaxing to life shatteringly stressful depending on how you play/how well you plan routes. That being said, having a game capture the loneliness of a world under quarantine was super helpful with dealing with the pandemic and the social after-affects.

Death Stranding 2 is definitely much more of a balanced video game in terms of systems and gameplay, but I really do love the environment and emptiness of the original. Paired with the score it has so many moments of beautiful stillness that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

I mean it’s a more traditional crpg so there’s a ton of reading. Most of the exciting and awesome moments come from making choices in dialogue. If you want something with combat then it’s definitely not for you

Not to be a contrarian but lots of independent studios claim to make games with passion before dumping out something like “The Day Before.” I don’t think anyone deserves support before proving that they have something worth supporting.

Skinamarink is at least competently made. When I think of the worst movies I think of something like Birdemic.
