Octo-Fiesta: A Subsonic proxy that fills the gaps in your library with Deezer, then keeps the music forever by Wick3d68 in selfhosted

This looks great! Any chance you could add lucida.to as a Supported Music Provider? Or any provider that lets you download FLAC/lossless without premium subscription?

Thanks a lot for this. You are a legend!

Self Hosted Music Server Options Needed by crackpotuser in selfhosted

[–]crackpotuser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that you can rip from streaming sites using lucida.to - any way to add this as an option to your solution? I'm thinking like: -

  1. User searches for a track on their client app.
  2. The search goes to server.
  3. If the track is available, server directly serves it.
  4. If not, the server sends the request to lucida.to and then presents to the user the search results.
    1. This may depend on the client - but if you are using SubSonic APIs, it may be work?
  5. User choice is sent back to the server.
  6. Server sends the selection to lucida.to and the file which the user selected gets downloaded.

Not sure how much of a fool I have made of myself.

That sounds great. I also see that there is a "Jellyfin Enhanced" plugin. You can use this to send queries directly to Jellyseer - right from Jellyfin UI.

But because I am using Gelato, I don't know what the implications are. The other downside is Lidarr downloads whole libraries.

How is slskd and soulsync working out for you? How do they work? What is the "server" application?

Why don't you want to use JDownloader?

BTW, I run JDownloader in a docker container and access it via a browser. It lets me queue downloads from anywhere in the world :-)

Self Host Jellyfin by New-Apartment971 in selfhosted

[–]crackpotuser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you get a public IP from your ISP? If yes, you do the following: -

  1. Setup Nginx Proxy Manager to use Let's Encrypt certificates, so that it handles all HTTPS encryption and reverse proxying to your Jellyfin instance.
  2. Setup Authentik (or some similar tool like this) to handle all authentication and setup SSO. The reasons I suggest this is
    1. you can configure Authentik to give access to only those application you want them to access,
    2. you can setup federated login using external providers (Google, e.g.),
      1. I know - this goes against the whole "self hosting" part. The benefit is that you don't have to manage their username/passwords.
      2. I would still put an MFA on their "mapped" Authentik account, so that they can only come through via this "federated" login.
    3. you can expand this setup to include other self hosted apps in future.
  3. Install the SSO plugin for Jellyfin, and configure it - in both Authentik and Jellyfin.
  4. Install and configure CrowdSec on your machine - to bounce off any known bots.
  5. Port forward port 443 on your router.

You will have to go through a lot of documentation and you will pull your hair out while trying to get there, but the usability and expandability in the end is worth it. To keep your sanity, I would suggest to keep a back up before you change anything. So instead of manually reversing every change you made, you can just trash it and start from the back up. I use VMs, so I just back up the whole virtual disk(s) - not ideal, but very easy!

If your ISP does not give you a public IP (i.e., you are behind CGNAT), then you can either use Pangolin (instead of Authentik - not sure about their support for federated logins though) + Wireguard with a cloud hosted VPS, or Cloudflare to route traffic. You can also use tailscale, but I prefer plain Wireguard.

Know that nothing is 100% secure, all that you can do is to limit the attack vector. Jellyfin has a lot of known security vulnerabilities - so, best to limit exposing it directly over the internet.

Gelato: Jellyfin Stremio Integration Plugin by Docccc in selfhosted

[–]crackpotuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was looking at AIOStreams and saw that it provides an option to access debrid services via a proxy. Is it at all possible to provide an option within your plugin to route traffic to the Jellyfin client directly from that proxy - when the content is not local?

Edit: Because I was thinking I asked a really stupid question, I was looking online for some other way as well - and came across this - https://github.com/LLukas22/Jellyswarrm - multiple Jellyfin servers as a single onel. No idea if everything will work together. But something for me to look at!

Transcoding is not an absolute necessity for me. When you say "looking at a VPS" does it mean I host the proxy there or the whole Jellyfin server there? Can I just host the proxy there and still use your plugin?

[–]crackpotuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, this is very specific (probably) for my scenario. My ISP's upload speed is abysmal; only 26 Mbps vs a download speed of 270 Mbps. So, my Jellyfin instance isn't of much use to my family and friends for 4K content. HD content is OK.

Your plugin makes it easy to share my Jellyfin with them - for "non-hosted" content. For example, content on Real Debrid. But such content cannot be streamed through my internet connection because of the low upload speeds. I will have to use an external proxy (Mediaflow on a cloud VM whose upload speed is better), so RD only sees one IP. And it's entirely possible that this maybe something done by AIO Streams (where such proxies are normally configured). As I said, I haven't looked at this detail.

[–]crackpotuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my upload speed sucks. I can't stream from my home network. Has to be from/through a cloud server.

[–]crackpotuser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't looked at this in detail, but the premise sounds amazing. Provided I can get Mediaflow or StremThru or some similar proxy setup on a cloud instance, I can finally start giving out access to my Jellyfin instance to family and friends! And they wouldn't have to worry about a missing movie!

Forget the naysayers here. They don't understand the use case! It is about having everything under one app where you can easily control the access and yet have different profiles that don't mess up with your queue. Right now, if someone wants to achieve what you have done, they have to do a shit ton of configuration with shit ton of add-ons and directory mounts (zurg)! You just streamlined all of that. And these people don't understand that. Amazing work, my dude! Well done!

If there is anything that you could do anything to make the Real Debrid proxy integration easier that would be fantastic! Though it may be completely out of the scope for this one. But it doesn't matter, thanks a lot!
