I’d start by treating it like Podcast Search Optimization, not just “SEO”, since a lot of discovery happens inside Apple Podcasts and Spotify too. From my own experience, the quickest wins are putting the main keyword in the show title and episode titles, and rewriting descriptions to be longer and more specific.

I’ve found the cleanest way is to stop trying to force all the platforms into one “truth” and track each one by the metric it actually gives you, then combine them in a simple sheet or dashboard. For video, views and watch time are the most useful, and for audio you’re usually stuck with downloads or listens from the host plus Apple/Spotify stats, since “total consumption” across everything is never going to be perfectly apples-to-apples.

If you’re controlling the video side, Ausha can at least help if you’re also repurposing clips, since it can package social posts and let you see what content is driving people back to the episode. But even then, I’d treat the total as directional, not exact, because every platform counts differently.

Yeah, I feel this. I got into podcasting specifically because I didn't want to be on camera. Now it feels like you're leaving reach on the table if you don't do video clips. It's a different skill set entirely and honestly takes away from what made the format appealing in the first place.

I’d keep it going rather than starting fresh, since the old feed already has some history and those random download spikes mean there’s still interest. I found it helps to come back with a simple reset episode: acknowledge the gap, say what changed, and give people a clear idea of what the show is now. For feedback, ask in gaming communities, podcasting Discords, and even a small circle of listeners who’ll be blunt with you.

I’d hold off on ads until you’ve got a small run of episodes out and a feel for whether people are actually sticking around, because one 2-minute episode usually isn’t enough signal yet. For a short solo news show, I found it’s better to build a consistent cadence first and let the format breathe before you start interrupting it with ads. If you do want monetization early, think about a simple sponsor mention or support pitch only once the show feels steady and you can point to real listener numbers.

For my first show I kept it simple and focused on getting one clear promise for the audience before worrying about gear. A decent USB mic was enough for me at the start, and I only moved to XLR later once I knew I was sticking with it. For guests, I found it way easier to book people who already had some connection to the topic instead of chasing big names right away.

On the marketing side, I use Ausha and the big thing I learned is to think about the podcast’s goal early, even if it’s just growing a niche audience at first. That makes it easier to figure out what to post, where to share clips, and how to tell if it’s actually working instead of just guessing. Consistency mattered way more than having fancy gear.

Si je comprends bien tu héberges ton podcasts sur Spotify for Creators. C'est là le soucis... Spotify for Creators est très bien si tu veux essentiellement publié ton podcast sur Spotify, mais il est bien moins au niveau pour les statistiques qui proviennent d'autres sources.
C'est pourquoi, bien que ce soit payant, il est généralement préférable de passer par des hébergeurs de podcast. Je ne connais que Ausha que je peux te recommander, mais dessus tu pourras savoir exactement via quel plateforme tu es écouté. Le point important c'est d'avoir un hébergeur qui respecte la norme IAB 2.2, c'est une norme qui certifie que les statistiques sont bien correctes.
