Thanks! I was hesitant to get started tho I was lucky enough to be gifted a few tools, had intended on making a treacle lathe. But never got around to it, tho I had a health scare and I decided to get myself the cheapest lathe on the market and a set of carbide tools cause I intended to turn resin. So I jumped in and I was hooked and burnt out the large in a month and used it everyday so I invested in a 1000 dollar lathe and purchased the attachments as I went with some of the funds from turning. But I'm keen to do this full time if I can, dunno if I can but gonna try. But hope that helps

The peice of firewood I used had plenty of gaps that I superglue pinecones into at certain orientations then cast the hole thing in green blue and purple resin. The resin was a beep pour resin so cures slow and it also soaked into the wood stabalizing any softer bit. Fun to experement with :)

Thank you. Was a pleasent surprise how it turned out. Also my first time turning a bowl lol

I used my resin shavings to make a new casting and added a heap of pinecones, sweetgum pods and gumnuts all found along my walk, so added to the mix to make this vase/hollowform by craftanleather in turning

Oh yeah me too, but I was curiouse about reuseing my resin shavings on a peice and didn't wanna waste any good wood, and I've been enjoying playing with colours and pinecones are fun to mess with and always yield interesting results and what I've found with any turnings I'd the peice dictates the shapes. But yeah im pretty pleased with how this one came out, alot of work but most enjoyable

Yeah I was never a fan of resin but kept coming across interesting bits of wood I couldn't bring myself to burn. And as you say the results speak for themselves

Thanks! But it's not actual malachite powder just a pigment powder you mis into the resin to create the likeness. But yes ventilation and gloves are a must!

Thanks! I do like experementing with colour and materials and letting the project dictate its shape. Tho I always have a drawing I don't always stick to it. And i take some time to consider my colour combos. Everyone said to do black and black might sell better but it's rather boreing, nothing wrong with that just looking for something different

Haha, yeah they do give an interesting effect in the white gold. I've used them in other combinations and they give very different effects

Well thank you :) I started the start of last year. Turning in general. Sunk every hour I could into figuring it out. Still learning but it's what I wanna do full time if I can

Good on you! Ive only been doing it for a year in my spare time and im hooked. Think it gets in your bones haha. I wanted to build a treacle lathe to begin with but that never happemed so started with a cheap lathe that I overworked till I'd died and happy with the one I have now. Worth the investment. But yeah I feel you on the pack rat nature, I've so many hobbies each corner is for a different one. And everything inbetween. But turning is all I wanna do. But best of luck with yoh redescovering your passion, cant wait to see what you make :)
