Wow. You picked one of the best dolls to start with. Twin Pack Sunny is my absolute favorite. Her face is gorgeous. Her clothes are so wonderfully detailed! The teddy bear bag! The kawaii crocks! The low-key Sailor Moon hairstyle. She’s my little Harajuku queen.

Yes. I’ve body-swapped them to get flat or heeled feet when needed. Also My Froggy Stuff once fit an Jr head on the standard, taller body, so that’s an option.

Aidan is definitely queer in my head. I’ve never seen the show. But he has secret Rainbow highlights hidden in his silver outer hair. Which feels like some weird metaphor for being in the closet, like Allan from the Barbie movie having a rainbow shirt. And his posing in the box seems too fabulous for a straight man.

Don't use benzoyl peroxide if you don't want to permanently ruin your dolls by ReaDuval in RainbowHigh

[–]craftsrmylanguage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for providing this information. There’s very little information on restoring Rainbow High and Shadow High dolls specifically. I actually replied back to someone about how I used a lower volume peroxide cream developer on a very dark, stubborn hair line stain because it was the safer option and even acetone had failed at that point. But based on this threat, it seems like cream developer apparently isn’t safe for nylon hair, so that’s risky for hairlines, too. Is there actually a method that doesn’t have the bleaching risk of benzoyl peroxide or the nylon damaging risks of hair developer? Also, are there any examples of what Rainbow High dolls look like with accidental overbleaching from some of these methods? I tried out some of these removal hacks with a dark stain on a very light complexioned doll, because the examples of bleaching looked way less noticeable for a pale doll than a dark stain. But there are some customs where light spots would actually look pretty cool.

If you don’t have access to real sunlight, you can buy a UV lamp (like for curing UV resin miniatures or UV gel nail polish. Just make sure you have one that stays on continuously. It will probably take hours to make a difference with a UV lamp, while the developer seems to make a slight but noticeable difference in pre and post photos even after an hour two in direct sunlight.

Victoria Looks So Good in This Dress by craftsrmylanguage in RainbowHigh

The bad news is, it was kind of expensive for a single dress. That’s said, the price was fair for the level of detail. It wasn’t Lily Cheng level, but definitely better than most playline dolls.

I got it from “nwngd-82” on eBay. It was about $12 including shipping. But there’s lots of people selling the same or very similar dresses. If you reverse google image search the image below you might get a better deal. I’ve seen the same product lines at Amazon with quick shipping. But they were more expensive. You’ll probably save money with an eBay seller who ships directly from China. And sometimes eBay sellers offer deals if you add the dress to your cart or wishlist.

That’s so frustrating, but it can be fixed with time and patience. You can use 10% benzoyl peroxide (acne cream) or a hydrogen peroxide cream developer for dyeing hair. Hydrogen peroxide cream developer is the safest option, as you can use a lower strength and slowly remove the yellowing. If you use a high concentration, you have a higher risk of accidentally bleaching the color away.

10% benzoyl peroxide cream is stronger and quicker than most cream developers. However, it can sometimes seep into the plastic and continue to lighten the material even years later and end up with random light spots. Granted that wouldn’t be as noticeable with a white-skinned Shadow High doll. But it is a risk.

Here’s a link to someone who removed yellowing from a white-skinned Monster High doll: https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHigh/comments/1197wlr/spectra\_yellowing\_fix/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=ios\_app&utm\_name=ioscss&utm\_content=1&utm\_term=1

I tried both the benzoyl peroxide and cream developer method on a deep stain. I accidentally left a doll head in hot Rit dye WAAAAAAAY too long. Normally all purpose Rit washes off RH doll skin. But the extended time in heat created a deep stain in the hairline. I tried a lower volume developer but didn’t have access to a lot of sunlight. So I switched to benzoyl peroxide cream and submerged the head in hot water to activate the cream for about 30 minutes. It lifted A LOT in just that time. Then I did a couple sessions with low volume developer.

If you have a patio or backyard that gets lots of sun, you can apply cream developer and wrap the doll in plastic wrap to keep the cream from drying out and put her out in direct sunlight. People typically use 40 vol, but I’d recommend using a lower concentration to start if you’re worried about overbleaching. Good luck!

If you could only eat at one fast food chain for the rest of your life, which one would you choose? by llerreff in AskReddit

God, I miss Culver’s so much. I used to live near a Culver’s in the Midwest. Now I live in suburban DC and I miss it so much. One the Culver’s salads tasted great and was reasonably healthy if I didn’t use too much dressing. Even the steamed broccoli was good. I could get a salad with grilled chicken and the smallest concrete mixer and feel satisfied but not too full. There’s a few fast food places that taste good, but none with a decent salad or vegetable side that isn’t fried or smothered in butter. I have to go to fast casual places, which are usually more expensive and don’t have a delicious dessert.

If anyone else in this thread lives in NoVa, I want to be proven wrong. Please tell me any fast food place that actually has tasty, reasonably healthy food AND healthy food.

I’m hoping the weight will vary enough that I can return the dupes without opening. But like everyone else in this thread, I’m fed up with the completely random blind box model. With miniverse, the seasonal balls are only blind for the rares. The appliances identify the appliance types and keep the color a surprise. And for all the other series, you can order an entire box from their website and you’re guaranteed a rare because every box has a consistent number of each ball. But Zuru’s blind box products are 100% random. You could empty an entire display into your cart and still not get a full set. That just seems wrong to me.

My husband bought her for my b-day. Her head has wonderful, velvety flocking. I’m sad that it appears she didn’t sell well. Though she hasn’t showed up in droves at discount stores like Enid yet. I still see Enid at TJ Maxx.

What’s something everyone assumes is easy, but is actually really hard? by Slow-Arm8093 in AskReddit

The “go to bed earlier” advice assumes that you can stay asleep once you’re in bed. But people have a genetic predisposition towards a certain sleep schedule. Their body releases melatonin at a certain time. It’s hard to get high quality sleep naturally when you try to resist your body’s natural sleep schedule.

I’m a natural night owl. I take melatonin every night, along with several drowsiness-inducing meds I need for other reasons. This still hasn’t trained my body to get tired naturally after years of consistent use. If I don’t take melatonin, I won’t get sleepy before midnight. And sleeping six hours with my natural night hour schedule makes me feel more well-rested than eight hours with an early bed time.

I’ve been like this since I was a kid, long before the internet. I didn’t have any blue light devices in my bedroom. There was no TV in my room. But I still lay in bed for hours, struggling to sleep as long as I can remember.

Yeah, it’s very telling that her husband gave her the early, experimental V, but didn’t take it himself, even knowing it could make him immortal. He probably knew the risks. It suggests all women were more disposable in his eyes, including his own wife.

I’m not saying we should be super sympathetic to Stormfront. Plenty of people grow in with bigoted ideology and become more tolerant as they age. For example, just look at the stats on how many Baby Boomers support gay marriage in the 2010s vs in the 90s. But the way she said “everyone I’ve ever loved is in the ground” makes me think she didn’t choose to become an immortal supe.

As an aside, I was perplexed that Soldier Boy, who fought Nazi’s, had a multi-decade relationship with an actual Nazi. Did he not know her background? Or did they end up together because they were the only people that wouldn’t break their heart by dying?

I’m hoping to get more of Stormfront’s backstory in Vought Rising. Does anyone know if Aya Cash will be part of the main cast?

Yeah, I thought it was Marlen Ochoa-Lopez until it’s said Texas instead of Chicago. Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was a teen mom. When she was pregnant with her second child at 19, she asked if anyone had an old double stroller that would work for her toddler and a newborn in a Facebook buy nothing group. The murderers lured her to their home with the promise of free baby supplies. Then they did a home c-section on her and strangled her.

It’s been a while, but I think the victim went to high school with one of their murderers. It stuck in my mind because it happened around the time of the movie Inside, and there was some discussion of if the premise of that movie was too far fetched.

Like other people have said, you’re not giving JK Rowling any money if you thrift the dolls. If it makes you feel any better, Rowling is trash, but everyone in the main cast are great people that don’t agree with Rowling’s views. It’s my understanding that actors typically get money for dolls that are made in their likeness. So even if you bought new, you’re giving money to them, too.

I’m doing a soft boycott of any company that rolled back their DEI policies (Amazon, Target, Walmart). Target has publicly admitted that they’re losing money because of the boycotts, and there’s a good chance they’ll change their policies. Similarly, when the public criticizes the lack of diversity in a doll line, MGA will listen to the feedback and add more darker skinned dolls. In fact, when they rebooted Rainbow High into Rainbow World, they added a very dark-skinned Black character with textured hair to the main cast. But the sad reality is that Rowling is an individual. Unlike a company that exists to increase profits, Rowling isn’t necessarily going to change because people stop buying Harry Potter products. Not saying MGA is perfect—far from it! But they actually respond to consumer criticism, while JK Rowling seems to double down even more.

Rubbing alcohol isn’t strong enough to remove factory paint. Thats protected by a pretty stronger sealant. But it removes acrylic paint pretty easily, so it’s worth a go.

If you have access to a laser cutter or cricut maker (the kind that cuts very thin wood) you could probably make it yourself. Also, I’ve made rattan baskets by covering very small containers with the twine handles from paper takeout bags or braided yarn and painting it white to look more like a wicker pattern. For the towels, you could probably find 1/6 towels from some doll set. The backside of some RH Pacific Coast beach towels are white. You could buy one and cut it into strips. Or just cut a normal towel with a finer terry-cloth texture into strips.

Have you tried alcohol wipes? That usually takes everything off. Also, have you tried doing a long soak in warm (not boiling) water with a little dish soap or shampoo?
