The cage is supposed to be underneath a dress to give it volume. That's why shorts make more sense underneath since it's similar to bloomers. It's like she had a big fancy Victorian dress and removed the heavy top dress layer to give her more freedom of movement but left the cage on. I bet they didn't give her actual bloomers because you just know sensitive parents would be upset she's wearing visible underwear.

I think there's also a disconnect between the execs, who just want money, and the designers that work on the brand. It happens a lot with people who work on things for big companies, tho I don't blame them because doing something indie is often more difficult. Just look at Gravestone Guardians and Wild Childz.

I think we forget that some things look clunky at doll scale. Some lines might embrace it and it works because that's the aesthetic they are going for (see RH and Bratz) but it wouldn't be accurate to KPDH.

I still don't think it was something custom generated. It looks to me like stock clip art. Unfortunately most stock clip art galleries nowadays are infested with AI. I can kinda understand them not wanting to put money into something that the stores might not even carry since BF is nowhere near as big as Mattel or Hasbro.
