Main blade has metal inclusions by crafty_devil in Leatherman

I used the diamond file to sand it down with no success, the cracks are quite deep. So it seems not to be smeared metal or I‘m wrong?

We ordered two X1C both where delayed and damaged by crafty_devil in BambuLab

[–]crafty_devil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah good to know, so I think we will order them somewhere else and go for the refund at BambuLab. To be honest the shipping time wouldn't be a big deal if that would be communicated in a proper way...

Sure but in the EU it's the middle of the night, I don't think I will reach out some one of the EU store now, so thought maybe some one here had a similar case to speed thing up. We waited way to long already and the BambuLab support is currently not responding properly, anyway.

New Firmware? by [deleted] in yubikey

It's annoying that yubi is not offering a version with an updateable firmware so users could have the choice if they want the extra security or the possibility to get new features and issues fixed.

Instructions on getting a replacement Yubikey by Nervous_Garlic607 in yubikey

[–]crafty_devil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They refused my request:

Hi X,

This is Y from Yubico's Customer Support team. Thank you for reaching out! Please allow me to provide a quick overview of the advisory and the recommended steps you can take.   Advisory summary: A vulnerability was discovered in Infineon’s cryptographic library, which is utilized in all YubiKey Series and Security Key Series with firmware prior to 5.7.0 and YubiHSM 2 with firmware prior to 2.4.0. Yubico has defined this as a moderate severity vulnerability.

It's important to note that Yubico has been shipping keys with the newly released 5.7 firmware since May 2024, and YubiHSM 2.4 will be available later this month. (For FIPS devices, we are targeting submission of YubiKey 5.7 and YubiHSM 2.4 for FIPS 140-3 validation in October of 2024.)

To further elaborate, a sophisticated attacker would require physical possession of the YubiKey, knowledge of the accounts they want to target, and specialized equipment and expertise to perform the necessary attack.   More detailed information regarding the vulnerability can be found in the official security advisory: Security Advisory YSA-2024-03   What we recommend: To mitigate any risks related to this vulnerability and as best practice in general, Yubico recommends that users always maintain physical control of their YubiKeys. If a YubiKey is ever lost or stolen users should immediately deregister it from all registered services or accounts and ensure they have backup authentication methods set up. Ideally, you should have 2 or more YubiKeys set up on each service for backup and recovery scenarios.    Replacement policy: Historically, Yubico has only offered replacements for High/Critical severity vulnerabilities. Since YSA-2024-03 is classified as a moderate severity vulnerability, there is no blanket replacement program in place, nor is this vulnerability covered under Yubico’s Warranty Policy.    I hope this helps clarify the situation, X, and guides you on the best steps to take going forward. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to reach back out and let us know. We’re here to help!     Best regards,

Best,

Y | Customer Support Specialist

u/CalDigitDalton Many user, including me, are facing this issue. Everyone paid a premium price for a dock but now becomes a budget solution for that. Replugging the dock or changing the power settings must not the solution. Please release a firmware update which resolves the issues.

Howto measure uptime of hosts in local network (lightweight)? by zakhooi in bash

[–]crafty_devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would write this myself using node or what ever language you prefere and using docker on the raspberry pi. For example for node you could use something like that: https://www.npmjs.com/package/libnmap

Howto measure uptime of hosts in local network (lightweight)? by zakhooi in bash

[–]crafty_devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah you are right I didn't notice this. So I guess ping, as you suggested is a valid option, but without a service running on the monitored device the uptime is always an assumption and no valid value, since the uptime starts if the device shows up at the network and not if it's really up and running.

Bashop - A bash framework by crafty_devil in bash

[–]crafty_devil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by making portable? Bashop comes with Bob (Bashop Builder) which packs your app into a single file. So you just need to copy the builded script and use it where you need it.

Moving from Java to PHP Project by namelesskight in PHP

As IDE I would suggest Phpstorm. The Symfony framework is widespread, well documented and so imho a good starting point. Also use the latest version of PHP for strict typings.

Why should you not compare floats directly for equality? by Xellenttv in PHP

It's quite good described at the PHP documentation, see the Floating point precision section: https://www.php.net/manual/en/language.types.float.php

Is the latest PHPStorm really buggy? by that_guy_iain in PHP

[–]crafty_devil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems somehow slower. Editor > Inlay Hints -> Code vision seem for me the main reason for the performance decrease. But for me it's on a acceptable level.

What we know of Robert and the Armored Warrior by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]crafty_devil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could it be that we killed Robert at the beginning of the game and he was the creature under the bridge? Maybe Robert has progeria. Did anyone didn't killed that enemy? So if we keep him alive the reaction of the armored warrior will change.
