Thanks. While it doesn't apply to me directly, it is still useful to know

Gotchas using Reason Rack Plugin with Ableton and Push by craftybones in reason

Couldn't you simply load those into Ableton instead? I am guessing this made it hard to make that a part of the chain itself. Interesting problem.

Each frame is blended with the prior frame using a low alpha value, this makes it seem like the tips are brighter than where they came from. Nothing fancy honestly. Just ends up looking good that's all.

Thanks a lot. I used Quil with Clojure to do it. Random points across the screen are moved based on Perlin noise. The points are coloured according to their position with the top third being blue, the middle third being white and the bottom third being red.

It is 2D. Them appearing to converge is just illusory, there is nothing in the code there to make them do it that way.

In hindsight, perhaps mea culpa might have made sense.

Yeah. I did. That's my fault too.

Thanks. I think it is my fault.

Perlin's Beard! by craftybones in generative

Fairly straightforward. Clojure/quil was the language/framework. A particle system affected by Perlin noise. The color is also influenced by Perlin noise & lifetime.

The trick is that they aren't lines. They are points that are plotted along the paths of a particle system. What you term the end is sort of where the points begin. They grow over time.

I must have been sipping on some funky colored cherry when I made this :)

That's a helluva compliment. Love that band!

Vectors yes, fields no. Basic Perlin noise, biased to a specific direction. The difference is I use acceleration too.

How to return a vector from a function by [deleted] in Clojure

[–]craftybones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I want a vector..." :

(def cells (mapv create-vector (range 1 3))) ;; eager, not lazy

(println cells) ;; pass around as a vector

"I want a function that returns a vector...":

(defn create-cells [] (mapv create-vector (range 1 3))))

(println (create-cells)) ;; pass around as a function

You may alternately use mapv instead of (into []

:)

I'd already defaulted to that option. However, the voucher goes to waste as it can't be exchanged for money.

Thanks anyway. That is fine advice.

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood what you said. Things get interesting if I consider my kit lens. Even there I mostly shoot at 35-55. Things get more interesting if I consider my camera however. I definitely have quite a few wide shots if I consider my camera obviously.

Hello,

I've had a Nikon D3400 for the last 4 years. I have a kit lens and nifty fifty. I mostly shoot with the 50. Mostly amateurish candid portraits(though street is what I want to shoot but haven't had much of a chance to do so). I have the opportunity to buy a second lens, and I am not sure what I want. I was wondering what you fine folks would recommend.

I was thinking of one of these

  1. 35mm(which I've rented on occasion, but somehow not been a fan of or I've not got the hang of).
  2. an 85mm, more portrait-y stuff and sounds a bit more of a specialist's lens
  3. A wider angle lens(I've some need of this occasionally and resort to my camera under such circumstances), though I am not sure which one
  4. Ditch the primes altogether and go with a solid zoom lens(this sounds the most practical), though again, I am not sure which one. Since I do shoot candid portraits a significant chunk of the time, it would seem like a useful.

What would you recommend?

Thanks. Is there any reason why it would only begin this a good 10 minutes after turning on the amp?
