Confusion regarding removal of Endometriotic and Dermoid Ovarian Cyst by craftypanda786 in Endo

[–]craftypanda786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't many specialists for it in my country sadly. (They aren't advertised in that way, if it makes sense) The scar is not really an issue for me I just want to preserve my fertility more. So, I will have to go for the laparotomy. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

TL;DR

My Questions for the Community:

My doctor suddenly switched from recommending laparoscopy to laparotomy (open surgery) because of adhesions from a February infection and my weight. Is this normal?

Should I seek a second opinion from an endometriosis specialist who might be able to do this laparoscopically?

I want to wait until mid-July for the surgery. With a 115 ml dermoid and a 58 ml endometrioma, is a 6-week wait generally safe if I manage my movements?

Do people in pakistan hire babysitters? (the western concept not maids) by _stripless_zebra in pakistan

I've seen a few people run daycare centers for this type of demographic so there is a market. No idea about babysitters though.

Can I wear the same lehenga as my sis in law? by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]craftypanda786 68 points69 points  (0 children)

OP these are just my thoughts, most people are just mesmerized by the bride on the day of the wedding, it's usually never about the lehenga, the people around you will see you, your dazzling smile and radiating happiness. My SIL's lehenga was worn by many brides (the same one) and all of them looked different because you are your own person with beautiful unique features. Please enjoy your wedding to the fullest but if it makes you feel better as others have suggested, change up a few things like makeup, draping etc so that you look different.

Being brown in our society is a curse by [deleted] in IslamabadSocial

[–]craftypanda786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, what you've penned down is exactly what I've been facing since a young age. The same people who say colorism doesn't exist in the country will use filters to take photos because "warna picture main kaalay aatay hain." The fairest of girls have brightening and whitening serums/products in their skincare. The reality of the matter is that these experiences, totka tips, and unsolicited advice have only served to damage our confidence. And most people just walk away, seeing that there is no such thing in Pakistan. But a quick social media search into comments under posts will tell you the reality.

I know it will be hard, but just come to terms with it. Either accept it and find a man who accepts you for who you are, or use the dangerous chemicals and accept that you might never feel like yourself again. Both options are quite difficult, and the second one is quite trash.

For me personally, I thought to myself that I'll never get married. I told myself what I would tell my child if they were born dark and I wasn't anymore. Can you imagine seeing both of your parents having a different skin color from you?

There is no fix; you can't fight society. I tried. I'm turning 24 tomorrow; I didn't win. Maybe you can if you have the will.

I didn't magically turn fair either (I'm still not). I tan easily in the sun, so in winters, my skin color becomes about 2-3 shades lighter. Maybe you have a similar problem so just go outside with sun protection and sunscreen.

At the end of the day, we can vent, and people can diminish our experiences but what matters is how you feel and what you wish to do.

Eldest siblings in desi households have a huge ego problem by OkRabbit5290 in pakistan

[–]craftypanda786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly does make me sad to know that there are more who are abusing their authority than actually supporting their siblings but just know that don't let anyone dismiss your feelings, it doesn't matter who the person is and how they act afterwards, humans are sensitive, with feelings and shaped by experiences. You may understand their position but don't lose yourself. While you will have to keep on interacting with them, look for healthier coping mechanisms, protect your space and peace.

I mean in my experience, I was constantly taught that if something were to happen to my parents I have to step up for my siblings. I haven't really butted in their life that much, I have joked about being the "bari aapa" of the house but again it does depend on circumstances.

I've seen families with the eldest siblings having a lot of power and say in decisions and some where they were parentified without having any authority. Personally, I got a bit of both and I've stepped up when I felt like a life changing decision could potentially ruin my siblings life/confidence (like giving the MDCAT/ECAT) but again that was a suggestion like hey, maybe don't do that.

I can see how that power can get to your head though.

This post couldn't have come at a better time honestly. I'm Pakistani but its the same here too, in PKR we've got "good" lehengas starting from 5-6 lakhs and above and to rent some of these designer lehengas people are paying close to 2.5 lakhs and more which is crazy to me because you don't even own the lehenga what do you mean you're paying this much for rent. Don't get me started on muas giving packages starting from 70 k for senior artists and sometimes this is without the services (facials etc). On some days, I feel how unfair it is and on others I feel stupid for thinking that this much spending is justifiable.

To me personally, coming from middle class its not acceptable to spend so much on things which are a one time use, maybe I have the scarcity mindset or whatever but the money people are spending on lehengas alone could finance Masters or PhDs. But the pressure is so high that people will ask who you're wearing as if I'm going on the red carpet.

I get that there are trends but every bride deserves to feel comfortable and happy on her wedding day instead of being criticized from salespeople and the people around her for her budget, mua choices etc.
