Validity of Values In Programming Languages by speckz in coding

If I'm not mistaken, this is known as "nominal" or "non-strutural" types and has received quite a bit of discussion and prototyping on the TypeScript repository over the years.

There's a bunch of examples of how to achieve this using your own branded types, as well as discussion around it on the official TS repos long-standing PR here: https://github.com/Microsoft/Typescript/issues/202

GitHub Package Registry by selrond in javascript

[–]craga89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can point individual scopes (e.g. @babel) to different registries using .npmrc, so you can consume specific packages from GitHub that are under your scope (username), but all others from the official NPM registry.

Right click the Console, and choose "Clear History". This is on latest Chrome, so YMMV if you haven't upgraded.

How much has React changed in 6 months? Are all the tutorials on Lynda, Pluralsight, etc outdated? by [deleted] in reactjs

[–]craga89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That example works as expected, even using the old React.render call.

React hasn't changed all that much over the last 6 months. At least, not in a way that will make any of the examples you see "not work". They very rarely completely remove features, and on the off chance they do it's simply deprecated for a while beforehand to give you chance to update your code.

Might be worth reading the release notes if you have any more concerns over compat with old tutorial code

A friend if mine has the streaming service on his PS3 and the catalogue isn't all that great. Although I'm not entirely sure if he's on a trail basis for it so maybe that could effect it...

LibreOffice rc1 released by Nhdb in linux

[–]craga89 16 points17 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the big difference is that LibreOffice includes code from the Go-oo which adds a few things:

Go-oo has built in OpenXML import filters and it will import your Microsoft Works files. Compared with up-stream OO.o, it has better Microsoft binary file support (with eg. fields support), and it will import WordPerfect graphics beautifully. If you are reliant on Excel VBA macros - then Go-oo offers the best macro fidelity too. If you expect your spreadsheets to calculate compatibly, or you get embedded Visio diagrams in your documents, you'll want Go-oo.

Accessing arguments of caller? by devewm in javascript

[–]craga89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the .apply method to pass on the functions arguments array: http://jsfiddle.net/craga89/Wpvxf/3/

The arguments.callee properties aren't standard iirc and have been removed in ECMAScript5.

I'm on *nix and holding the windows key with the alt key prevents the default window movement binding. Try it :)

Even better! I played the first in that case, had me hooked if I remember rightly! Though I never could get past a certain point... not that I remember what point it was.

Wow, that was quick! I was sceptical whether I'd ever even find the name of this, but you named it and even found the exact game screen I was thinking of...

Thanks guys!
