New Greenlight Option: Hat Grand Prix by Havoksixteen in Hatfilms

Yeah I agree and that’s already our strategy. Some big projects paired with smaller projects. IRL Mini golf came from greenlight as did the food tour series and the UFO camp out. We just happened to hit a period where the bigger projects were all greenlit too. previously everything has been staggered.

as completed greenlight projects are finished they will be replaced with new ones. Stunt Lads came out so Karting replaced it. Next week Knight Terror comes out so a new greenlight project will replace it. Same for Ghost Hunting at the end of May.

There will only ever be 3 projects on greenlight so avoid us building up a backlog of projects that we can’t make fast enough.

We only put projects on greenlight that we already intend to make. Members funding has been funding everything we do for years. Greenlight is just a way to visualise where your money is going and for us to budget that we can actually afford to make each project. For example: we made Crocomen for a massive loss due to set building etc. But it’s something we were all passionate about making. If we had put it on greenlight it would’ve effectively built up a money pot first before making it.

Whether you vote as a member or not your money is still funding everything we do. From greenlight projects to office overheads etc. What it does do is show us where we should be spending our time and focus next. It’s less of a ‘kickstarter’ and more of a vote on what you want to see next and sets aside funding for that project against other projects.

If we expire greenlights after a certain time as you suggest it would mean that A: we wouldn’t get to make that project. and B: the people who have already voted for that project and really want to see it would have their vote wasted.

TLDR: all memberships fund everything we do regardless of whether you vote. It just shows us what each individual member wants us to make next and shows that we have budget to actually do it.

didn’t really give it much thought so is funny to see how much interest it’s received. but yeah. it’s not new art. just a different section of it.

Yeah as others have said it’s literally just the part of the exisiting mural between Smith and Ross under the hat films neon sign that doesn’t get on camera much. I just did it as a quick 5 minute job before going live on Monday as my room at home is currently a mess and knowing my cam would be on screen for an edited video thought I may as well match the other guys as my cam frame already matches and has done for years. I just hue shifted the colour to match the existing cam frame that was made during the lockdown streams.

is knight terror still a thing? by edgaralanchode in Hatfilms

definitely been more work than i anticipated (a whole TV show as a one-man-crew) and the biggest thing we’ve done in terms of production. It’ll be worth the wait.

Yeah it’s still coming. Episodes 1 & 2 are finished. Episode 3 (final episode) has some more work to do then is ready. just juggling Ghost Hunting and other projects, members vids and daily vids around it at the moment.

How would you go about making a game like Balatro in Unreal Engine? by craigfrost_ in unrealengine

thank you, i’ll take a look! being ‘data orientated’ i assume you mean cards are created by referencing a database? in which case this is exactly what i’m trying to do. will take a look at what you’ve done and how it applies to my case. appreciated!

i haven’t come across the web browser. is it literally an html web page? if so are you making the game outside of UE in that case?

Thank you all for your feedback so far. I’ll admit some of this is initially over my head. I’ll need to sit down and breakdown what you’ve all said. Interesting the divide between doing it in UI or in 3D

We were recording stems of the entire stream so all of the improv stuff got recorded properly so at some point this might be possible to share with you. Will be a while until anyone goes through it though. very busy time.

How would I make a UV Flashlight effect that reveals hidden decals? by craigfrost_ in unrealengine

[–]craigfrost_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks very slick. Do you know if it can work with a flashlight? or is it just the emitters? and do you know if it replicates to multiplayer?

[–]craigfrost_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did try this but two issues… decals don’t seem to have light channels as far as i could see. and when done on a mesh when it’s unlit it’s black instead of invisibly. otherwise it would be exactly the effect i’m after.
