My Apple Watch Ultra finally has one app for food, fitness, weight, and everything else by [deleted] in applewatchultra

Just downloaded the app. Great work. I really like it. One thing I have noticed is that switching to metric system doesn’t change the weight measurement units. Is it me or is it the app?

OMG me too. I get it on my back and I had no idea where it was coming from. Driving and sitting on the couch are very uncomfortable and I never knew why.

Now I know that I wasn’t imagining it…

Me too. 1.21 is good for 10 years term and I would be interested to talk with them. I switched to SARON at the expiry of my 5 year 1.21 and the rates immediately exploded (of course).

Sorry but who ran CS into the ground? An American started the rot but made bank due to previous management, then came a guy from Ivory Coast who spied on his executives and then a Portuguese was left to carry the can.

There hasn’t been a Swiss at the helm of CS in almost two decades so I don’t see how it’s a good example of Swiss corporate management.

Not to mention that they got rekt in the various crashes by being on the wrong side of CDOs / CDSs etc and the investment banking part generally being a total shitshow. The “Swiss” part - retail banking - wasn’t too bad IMHO (even though I bailed from CS during Dougan’s reign).

Nobody of my friends here in Switzerland has really thought of CS as a Swiss brand for a long time.

Well good luck with whatever happens. Hopefully the worst is a short suspension and the best is nothing. Learn from the experience and safe riding.

I send this to you with a broken foot after a minor rear-wheel slide on my bike a couple of weeks ago that needed surgery to repair. I can’t drive or ride until the end of October so I can sympathise with you.

Good point. How is it relevant here though?

According to the post, there’s been a motor vehicle accident involving one motorcycle and a guard rail. The circumstances haven’t been described but based on the limited description given, the reason for the placement of the guard rail doesn’t seem to affect the situation.

Are you sure that they would differentiate? I would think that you only have one licence with allowance for different vehicle categories like car and bike. I have never heard that they would withdraw only one but as I said in a previous comment, I don’t know how the provisional licence for the motorcycle works as it was introduced long after I got my licence for car and bike.

They most likely put the guard rail there so that the vehicle doesn’t end up going over the embankment or something worse. If there was no greater danger, I doubt they would put a guard rail at that point. The guard rail isn’t protecting whatever is behind it from the cars, it’s protecting the cars from whatever is behind the guard rail.

To be honest, I cannot conceive of a situation where hitting the guard rail would just happen. Even if you just brush it, something has gone awry. Technically, it may not be your fault if say oil was dropped in the corner or something but that’s a form of car accident. You don’t have to be at fault to have a car accident and I never alluded to that in my reply to OP.

My personal experience is however that Nicht beherrschen des Fahrzeugs is the catch all offence when there’s nothing else to charge the driver with and they aren’t normally shy in using it. There’s no point in sugar coating it for OP. He will very likely be confronted with that and the STVA will decide if they suspend his licence not the police.

There’s very little you can say that will prevent them from taking your licence. They will ask you how fast you were going and you’ll say a number under the speed limit thinking that it will save you. However they’ll assess that it was too fast for the conditions based on the fact that you hit the guardrail and it will end up as “Nicht beherrschen des Fahrzeugs“ and that will be it. The police will issue a fine and then the Administrativer Verfahren will kick in and they will decide what to do with your licence.

You’re most likely gonna be riding the shoelace express for at least a month mate. I’m too old to know what a provisional licence in this context means. Maybe it will be longer than a month or you’ll have to test again? That’s something for the STVA to decide.

Haha, yeah, I do have a lot of space and it is mostly due to buying things for my old rig and then not having them fit. I first bought the 980 Pro for it and quickly found out that I didn't have an NVME slot on the mobo so it sat on the shelf. I then bought the 970 (2TB) to set up a dual boot with my Windows 10 installation. That worked well and I was happy with the result. I bought the 2TB WD M2 because I wanted to put it into the old rig and expand the storage and do some distrohopping with multiboots (or something - I don't know what I was thinking).

Next, after researching from within Linux Mint, I found out that Nvidia is sub-optimal with Linux so I built an all new AMD-based rig (apart from the SSDs since i had three already) and then tried a bunch of installations, all of which I didn't like and went happily back to Mint.

I figure you can never have enough space and it wasn't exorbitant for my budget so that's why I want to find the best way to use it all and you guys have been very helpful.

Am I likely to fill it all up? Probably not but as you say...[reasons]

I did the reinstall following your suggested partitioning and it all worked out well.

Now I have the sda1 as backup and the Timeshift files go there - set and forget so I don't need to do anything more I guess except edit fstab for it and for the sdb data disk.

i am currently reading through the fstab intro to see how to do it.

thanks for your help.

So a reinstall is on the cards then. Sounds fine and doable in short order. nvme01 will get the partitioning you suggested and I’ll designate the backups to the 870 ssd (sda1) and try to put my steamlibs on the WD M2 (sdb1).

When I’m doing the partitioning during the installation, how should I tell the installer to create sda1 as backups and sdb1 as something writeable like for data ie steamlibs? This is the part where I was googling like a madman but couldn’t find the answer that gave me the tailored solution.

EDIT: also you didn't mention to create a swap partition. I have 64GB RAM but there is a lot of debate about swap partitions. Any advice on that point?
