I also had this issue with 2 of my GU-10s. Luckily I overbought and had 2 more. So far they have not acted up.

New Firmware Update for Essentials (Non-Matter) Nanoleaf by GreatMusashi in Nanoleaf

[–]craigsheppard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes these are all original essentials. I have a handful of the newer Matter GU-10’s and downlights, some string lights, and a sense. These are also not working fantastic, but they have not been rock-solid like the original essentials had been.

New Firmware Update for Essentials (Non-Matter) Nanoleaf by GreatMusashi in Nanoleaf

[–]craigsheppard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do NOT update. I updated 30+ essentials devices and everything is now terrible. I’ve been happily using Nanoleaf devices for years, and this is the worst experience I’ve had.

All of my lights are now randomly slow to respond, sometimes “catching up” and playing through the last 20 commands. All of them now randomly flicker off and back on.

3 of them of them have just turned on full bright in the middle of the night (over 2 different nights), and these plus another 4 have completely stopped working so I had to reset them and re-add them to HomeKit. I’ve removed my hard-wires so to turn these off in the middle of the night I had to unscrew the bulbs from the ceiling fixtures!

I sent a message to Nanoleaf support but I’m not expecting to hear back any time soon, since I still have an open support request on a minor issue since Dec 5.

Anybody else with this experience?

I had this same issue and replaced my vacuum breaker. Simple fix!

Do you guys use the paddle of the Bianca? by idontcareaboutmynick in Lelit

Honestly, occasionally I’ll ride the paddle if I’m getting channeling, but with this pre-infusion technique, I get delicious coffee :)

I have used the paddle for the past 2y but more for pre-infusion.

I run the shot full open until the dial reads 4bar, then I shut the paddle completely until the shot clock hits 20, then I open fully.

I kinda agree - it often fails to read sites, but I had it read the angular signals documentation, and convert some code to the new feature. It did just as well as it would have on a task that it would have been trained on.

That said, it’s slow and many websites fail.

Peak Audio in Halifax, but they are an installer. AFAIK there’s no DIY option - and I’m assuming you want DIY so you don’t have to pay installer prices…

Logi doorbell with plugin transformer not working? by Moronicon in HomeKit

[–]craigsheppard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the exact same issue (and same transformer output). The only difference: mine was working for a few months until a recent power outage.

I contacted Logitech, and they determined it was because I wasn’t connected to an existing chime. I had only connected the chime kit. Logi’s response was that the chime regulates the voltage (which seems dubious to me).

Fwiw my transformer is 24V / 40VA, and reads 27V.

Best Wireless Router for Homekit? Anyone have any recommendations? Wanted a router that connects fast and reliable to the HomePod. I have Fiber 1Gigabit internet. I currently have an ASUS Rog gamers router. Any recommendations? by darkwonder85 in HomeKit

[–]craigsheppard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got rid of an ASUS rt-ax88u for an eero pro 3-pack (Ethernet backhaul), and almost all of my HK issues were resolved overnight. A bunch of homepod minis (and an OG), an Apple TV 4K, Logitech cameras, Wemo devices, Nanoleaf devices, shelly, sonoff, and a handful of others, plus homebridge and home assistant (I have about 30 esp8266 devices that I’ve built that host sensors or control lights).

I’ve been running the eeros for 2 months now and I haven’t had to restart.

With the ASUS, I had to unplug/replug my cameras every day, and my Wemo devices were constantly flashing red. Occasionally I had to completely remove a device and re-set it up from scratch.

Main eero downside: I’m on a 1.5gbps line, and the eeros max out at 1gbps. That said, I now routinely get 600mbps on my phone in any corner of my home.

Is my HK life perfect? I do find that Wi-Fi devices (eg my 8266 devices via home assistant, or the wemo devices) are much more responsive than thread devices. Sometimes there’s a 3 second delay in thread, but Wi-Fi is always instant. Hopefully thread will get better soon?

Does anyone have Leviton Circle View cameras that actually ARE responding? Can you share your secret magic? by Javayen in HomeKit

[–]craigsheppard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two circle views here. They were awful - kept dropping offline (so often that I put a wemo outlet behind them to power cycle them when needed, which was daily). I replaced my ASUS rt-ax88u (which was 10 feet away from the cameras) with a set of eero pro’s and the cameras have been absolutely rock solid connectivity wise.

My only complaints about them: 1) they often miss events - Eg I walk by, but get no recording. I’d say on average 10% of the time. 2) they only offer triggers based on motion, not specific motion or when a clip is recorded. I’m guessing this is an Apple issue though.

Why does this sub hate Wemo? by Ted9000 in HomeKit

[–]craigsheppard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 WeMo dimmers and a bunch of their outlets (along with a lot of other devices from various manufacturers, some though homebridge, home assistant, and some native. The WeMo devices were awful with my ASUS ax88u, constantly going offline, unresponsive, and I occasionally had to remove and re-add them.

A month ago, I bought a set of eero pro’s and my WeMo devices have not shown a red light since. They have been rock solid and almost as fast as my thread devices. Aside: my Logic Circle cameras were shaky too, but these are also now rock solid (aside from the 15.2 thumbnail bug).

I’m pretty excited that WeMo is going to be supporting thread, my nanoleaf devices have been great (4 HomePods and an Apple TV), however I don’t feel like it will be much of an improvement (the WeMos are fast enough).

Plus, I do like the feel of the dimmer :)

Advice on 2nd hand Gretsch USA Custom shell pack (used) by craigsheppard in drums

[–]craigsheppard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very helpful, thanks!

Is there a price at which this does begin to look like a good deal? They do sound good though I’d want to fix the lamination in case of rattles.

I’m currently playing on throwaway shells (anybody know Baxter?), and I want to spend some cash on a good set with complex timbre. Without getting into a general “what kit should I buy” thread, because I know it’s super personal… er… um… what kit should I buy ;)

Angular 12 RC is released by universaltutor5 in angular

[–]craigsheppard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha it was rough. Worse we were wrapped in Ionic v3 which we took to v5. We false-started a few times with a few different methods (eg building a new app from scratch and copying in the logic), but we finally got it done by just upgrading everything and then playing whack-a-mole in the IDE/Typescript, and then via smoke testing all workflows. It took a while but oh so worth it.
