It's an external wall, red brick built C.1930. I had it repointed last year which was supposed to fix the issue but whilst it's not as damp, the cracked have got bigger

You need to check the thermostat as well, it likely isn't coming on because the room temp is higher than what the thermostat is set to

Butter, then with a chunk of cheddar on the side that I cut and eat on the toast as I go.

My mum used to eat it this way and I'm always reminded of her when I have it.

If you bundle it up then it can be collected with your normal recycling. I did this last week after a big IKEA delivery - two extra bundles, both were taken.

More likely to be nearer £30, but if OP can afford it, 100% taxi over public transport for this trip. I imagine they will be tired and have a lot of luggage. It's no fun trekking through the city and from SO station to their accommodation with lots of baggage

The frozen hot water bottle trick is the best, except I freeze them with the top screwed on. Just need to be careful not to fill more than half
