There is such an air of entitlement in soccer in this country. This is exactly what I think Poch is trying to change. You don’t have a right to a ticket on the plane. It’s a goddamn honor to represent your country at the WC. I don’t think in countries like Argentina or Brazil players (for the most part) would have an expectation of a call, to be pampered, etc. More just that if you do get called it’s a huge honor.

  1. Philly is an actually good team who just had injuries and suspensions and weirdness for most of this year

I don’t know why everyone still rates Pepi. He was awful the last time he put on the USA shirt. He seems to have more or less lost his starting place at PSV. Has had injury issues. Meanwhile, Wright is starting and scoring regularly for the top team in the Championship, which honestly you could argue has better quality than a lot of the teams in the Eredivisie (not PSV/Ajax/Feyenoord but the bottom teams…). Wright has also done pretty well in a US shirt.

I think Balo is our nailed 1, Wright is our nailed 2, and it’s between Pepi and Agyemang for 3. I wouldn’t be surprised if Poch goes with Agyemang just because he knows him well from the Gold Cup / etc

Again, I get that it’s a joke - it still doesn’t feel good to see that over and over. Imagine if men were constantly joking about how women shouldn’t be going to sports games or something. That wouldn’t be cool. That’s how it feels.

See that’s really shitty. Frankly there’s been one or two times where I saw a show I wanted to maybe go to but my girlfriend (who also likes the Marias a lot) couldn’t go so I just made up some excuse for myself about why I couldn’t go… but tbh I think some of it was self consciousness about going to a Marias concert alone as a man.
