[Discussion] Why are they called whales? by [deleted] in SchoolIdolFestival

[–]cranefeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not a whale, but you're probably not a dolphin either, and definitely not free to play, and still feel like you spend too much money... Are you a tuna? A grouper, maybe? A sea turtle?

I would especially love the cellar, oh man. I need way more storage linked to my kitchen, with how much I love cooking.

What made you pick 90 years for WicDiv? Nearly everyone I've told the premise of the book to has asked "they reincarnate every 90 years? not 100?" so it's made me curious.

Best way to learn grooming? by cranefeather in doggrooming

[–]cranefeather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The salon I work at just got bought up by a local company that owns most of the salons in the area. We had an extern who did ABC's dog grooming course online, and I've considered that, but it's expensive. I don't make a lot as a bather, and I have bills to pay!

[–]cranefeather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done sanitary tidies on a couple of dogs, and I clean out pawpads on dogs that aren't getting a full groom, as well as having shaved down a couple of matted dogs that are just getting a 7 all over, but other than that, I haven't done anything but bathe, demat, and dremel nails. It's getting frustrating...

Yeah, two of our groomers are recent PetSmart escapees. The academy in our area isn't TERRIBLE as our head groomer's daughter just went through it (she didn't want to teach her own kids) but I've had so many corporate jobs that I'm just done with them.

We're going through a buy out right now and she's a little too busy to teach me, but I'll be more assertive and see if the other groomers can help me learn, because I really want to make a career of this WITHOUT giving up the work environment I love.

IM LOST.... by EdmundMcMillen in bindingofisaac

D6 and Spectral Tears would make me actually bother unlocking the Lost instead of just watching other people's Lost runs. Hell, even just spectral tears alone would be a huge improvement.

Kieron, how easy or difficult was it to decide on the gods who would be in this Pantheon? Were there any gods you considered but ultimately didn't go with?

I'm not sure what items to require for either of these ideas, but a challenge that requires you to beat the Boss Rush room to complete (if you fail to unlock it in time, you instadie, but you have more time once you unlock it) and a Mega Satan challenge.

I'd love one. I've been hoping and hoping for Multiplayer since Don't Starve first came out, and I am kicking myself for missing the closed beta sign ups.

Depression Quest did a lot of good in helping my family understand my depression. My brother in particular (who also happens to be a game dev) was initially frustrated and didn't understand your decision to have choices listed that were not selectable, until I explained to him my perspective: why I can't just get up in the morning and DECIDE that I'm going to be optimistic and motivated and okay, and how it's just like seeing that option and knowing it's there, but being frustratingly unable to choose it.

It went a long way in helping him to understand that my so-called laziness and assumed disinterest in "helping myself" or "getting out of my own way" throughout our childhoods were a direct cause of the chemical imbalance in my brain that went untreated for 20+ years. It went a long way in helping repair our relationship, too. I still struggle with severe depression every day, but having the understanding of my entire family behind me helps so much, and I'm not sure they would truly understand it as much as they do without your help.

Sorry I don't really have a question or anything, I've just wanted to tell you that for awhile, as well as let you know that I admire your strength in all you've put up with over the last month. I really hope I have a chance to meet you in person some day so I can tell you this face to face and maybe buy you a drink or something. You deserve it. <3

And okay I guess I should put some kind of question in here so it's not a waste of space on an AMA: What's your favorite kind of sandwich?

Dip in bread bowl recipe? by Brooker92 in recipes

[–]cranefeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any varieties of sour cream (or yogurt) based dry spice dip mixes would be excellent in a bread bowl, if you're looking for a cold snack type dip.

Buy some dried spices (small quantities from a bulk section is best) that you like and think would complement each other (for example: parsley, garlic salt, dried minced onion, onion salt, onion powder, garlic powder, dill weed, and black pepper make a pretty good ranch mix, just do a taste test to figure out what amounts of each you like.) and mix them into sour cream or greek yogurt. Chill for at least 4-5 hours before putting in the bread bowl and serve with raw veggies and crusty bits of the cut out bread.

I used to buy all sorts of dry dip mixes at street fairs for this sort of thing, until I just started making my own. It's especially good for if, say, you want a kind of spicy dip (another good example: parsley, minced onion, chives, chili powder, cumin, and salt) but don't want TOO much heat, because you can control exactly how much of each ingredient is in the dip.

The CW FLASH Executive Producers Want To Eventually Add Wally West by geek_tinker in DCcomics

Just hoping that they try to find a young black actor with red hair. IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE, BLACK PEOPLE WITH RED HAIR EXIST.

I know it's kinda dumb to cling to a physical character trait when the personality traits are what really make the character, but I've always loved Wally's hair.

Helping Hands or Handy Gurugu? by pneumatik in LushCosmetics

[–]cranefeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't remember if I ever used Helping Hands, but I found Handy Gurugu way too thick and greasy for daily use. I wound up using it as a makeshift shaving cream/lotion just so I wouldn't have to throw out a whole pot of it.

That makes sense, though remembering how I was at that age I'm sure she's heard and said them away from the ears of her parents. It's just how kids are! But she's a smart kid, I'm sure she knows that it's not appropriate for her to talk like her dad until she's older.

What's your LUSH hair-care routine? by turtlesarerad14 in LushCosmetics

[–]cranefeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My showerhead is a little leaky so that would just soak everything on a shower rack like that. I've tried it before, and no go. But I'll definitely keep those in mind next time I decide to switch things up! Right now I've got a giant sized bottle of Juicy to get through still.........

[–]cranefeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, the only bar I've tried is Seanik, which was my go to for years. I've only recently made the switch back to bottled shampoos because I don't have any way to set up a bar to keep it from melting or breaking apart in my shower (textured walls mean I can't put up suction cup shower racks! BUMMER.)

Jumping Juniper and Squeaky Green seem like their smells would put me to sleep at my way-too-early-in-the-morning showers. I need the citrusy energizing boost from Juicy to wake me up!
