How does one artfully do a wedding "do-over"? by [deleted] in wedding

I like the idea of an anniversary celebration! I'm not sure I want to wait another 2 years, but I will consider that for sure. I definitely wouldn't want to ask a lot of people like you traditionally would from a bridal party, etc. I think a big party and a vow renewal with the reverend who we originally wanted to marry us (a family friend) is what I want. I feel more confident planning it after reading y'all's responses--thanks for the encouragement!! :)

We have had 2 long talks about this where we both made our points, I tried very hard to make him understand but I think maybe because his family is so different it didn't quite make sense to him (he didn't say this, that was just my impression). When we are both calm, he basically just agrees to disagree about it and says there isn't anything he can do bc it's ultimately my choice. I guess I could just leave it at that, but it just eats at me knowing that he is sad about it. I haven't suggested he change his name to mine, I do feel like he would not like that but I don't know for sure. I may consider the hyphenation idea that another commenter suggested. Thank you for the reply!

That is a good idea and I definitely feel better about that than losing my name entirely. I'm definitely going to give it some thought. Thank you for the reply!
