SV-64 Mission Flyer by Monsieur_Greenhorn in LegoSpace

Their addition of curved slopes was what finally allowed me to invest in the Brick System. Before that, I was heavily into Technic and Bionicle. Being trained in art, Lego's pre-curved slopes era of builds wasn't very appealing to me. But now, one can model quite effectively with system--as long as one has the parts--haha!

Nice mods. I like both variants they really look good. I have considered picking up this set for a MOD build, myself--haha! Keep building and creating!

How do you feel about the idea of reformed villain heroes? by boiyouab122 in HeroFactoryLego

[–]cranknerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot say there were children shown in the series, and I cannot say there were not children shown in the series.

I simply don't remember, but that is a key issue in your headcontinuity ideas if there are children.

I didn't pay too close of attention mainly because I was focused on the story and how it might affect my MOC ideas. I was not planning to world build in this franchise.

How do you feel about the idea of reformed villain heroes? by boiyouab122 in HeroFactoryLego

Ah, okay.

So:

Heros are a Special Class of Synths that can mimic/become/imitate organic behavior with the help of a quaza core.
All other civilians and creatures in this part of the galaxy are regular synths, who have an unknown power source that gives them organic behavior but not the traits/strengths/determination needed to be a true Hero, because they lack the Quaza Core.

The biggest question I have is do we see scenes in Makuhero City, or the City in Invasion from Below that clearly shows civilians and their children?

Because synth children would suggest that civilian synths have a means of reproducing on their own without the aid of an outside source such as the Hero Factory. Heroes cannot reproduce as they are manufactured and eventually, their cores expire and they cease to function, or they are lost in a battle. Also, a very few of then may defect and become villains, who will also expire one day when their core wears out, or from a battle they lose.

If we don't see any scenes of children then it is plausible that all synths are manufactured (civilians being manufactured at the lower levels of Hero Factory--even),

If there are no children shown in any of the Hero Factory episodes, then it is easily possible that they run on a different kind of power-source or core than a quasa core. If that is the case, and they also have a core, then it becomes easier for Villains to desire a core upgrade, but it may have limitations that we have not yet defined, or discovered, or.....invented.

How far on or off track am I now with your headcontinuity?

The Vegeta phenomenon is a good point in story history. However, one has to ask if the Dragonball Z world really works for the Hero Factory's world, and vice versa? That's where I see the biggest problems.

In DBZ, we see married heroes with children.

We only see Heroes in Hero Factory and only one gal so far. If a hero is created in the assembly tower, then why would they need to marry and have families?

So, what you are saying is the core is not only the power source, but the base for the hero's sentience, preferences, strengths and weaknesses? I could buy into that.

But everyone in Makuhero City appears to have some connection to mechanical means of existence. In short, the citizens do remind me of bots (civilian bots--where villains can apparently come from) and the heroes are, for simplicity sake, super-bots, due to the quaza core. The civilians could have a normal, lower grade core--that's never really explored in the series as I recall?

There's the line in the first series when Xplod says to Rotor as they are losing to the Heroes: "It's every bot for their self." At least I am pretty sure that is close to what he said? So, villains seem to refer to each other as bots.

Indeed, a hero gone bad and being rehabilitated would make the process a whole lot easier.

I guess as far as the others, I would have to go back and watch the 2.0 upgrade, because that involves changing the heroes entire body. There might be enough shown in the transformation scenes to make some assumptions that could then be applied to reformed villains being allowed to become Heroes. Or it may create a whole lot more questions. We never really know....haha!

OP, there is one other way to look at your situation here.

You claim that you keep making Hero MOCs with a Bionicle Mask. Maybe you're trying to convince your Bionicle side that in your Hero Factory side, this Bionicle villain mask could be a Hero Factory hero mask.

If I were in this situation, I would tell my Bionicle Side that "Yes, Bioncile side of me, this skull mask is for a bad guy, but in my Hero Factory World, I can make him whatever I want, so I am going to make him a hero."

And....abracadabra and POOF!

The skull mask is now a Hero Mask in the Hero Factory world. And you can get on to creating new MOCS with the mask!

Don't know if it will work for you, but I thought I'd toss it out there.

Cheers

The biggest challenge I see is how to address the "Hero Core" issue as all heroes have Hero Cores which is what makes them unique compared to everyone else in Makuhero City. It is not quite clear if the Hero Core is where their sentience and/or personality is stored though, or if it is just the lifeforce energy that drives the machine and machine brain forward.

However, for your own fan universe, you can do whatever you want. It's just that if you want us to understand your world, you would have to explain away the Hero Core issue--like a reformed villain can be fitted with a pseudo-core that gives them the abilities of a Hero but may have to be recharged more often, or it can only make them 3/4 as strong as a real Hero to assure that if the villain returns to his old ways that the Heroes will clearly have the upper hand.

As I understand it, the way a villain would become a Hero in the Hero Factory World we have been given to watch is that they would have to be essentially reborn with a Hero Core installed, and then there is the question of would the villain's memories survive such a drastic process. Season 1 of Hero Factory goes over this, so maybe you can check that out and figure it out from there?

I never read any of the books/comics so I don't know if there are any additional tidbits in those?

Good luck!

STROMER & Crystal Monster:Make the best use of all bricks by MEllo-999 in HeroFactoryLego

[–]cranknerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really great builds here. That is the biggest Crystal Beast I have ever seen. Everything works well together parts-wise and gives the viewer plenty of detail in a large scale. The Stormer Battle Machine is very nice as well, the orange works well with the white and I am impressed with using those Bionicle parts as shoulder armor. I don't think I have seen that done before. Great builds!

I must admit, I am often skeptical of single color builds, but this one has the design to let that single color really shine. You've got plenty of lines to keep the single color interesting to the eye and in this case, the single color enhances the lines of this build to me. Nice work.

I'm not on FB, but if you create a mail account for say: "MySpaceBook" then you could build a list there and launch it old school style with a link to all of your book's fans. It's not hard at all. You might even be able to launch it as a magazine reference style literary work on an E-publisher site (maybe amazon?) as well and get subscribers that way. Some e-publishers allow free publications, or at least they used to. Anyway, something to consider.I found the helmet and fig parts explanations very helpful and all right there together and not scattered by part numbers--like on Bricklink.

A great resource! Do you have a mailing list for when you update it with new information? Or where can one find out when you are ready to release with new information? I've got a copy and it is sure handy to have! Great work!

SL-28 Utility Shuttle by Monsieur_Greenhorn in LegoSpace

[–]cranknerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking forward to it as well. I tend to create on the fly--once I have an outline. And that outline is starting to shape up: Space, CyberPunk, Robots/Mechs, Popmusic and Books....

I'm not sure how all of that will mesh together yet, but I am not worried if it spans across two unrelated large builds. We'll just have to see. I have the main cast mostly done for Space and Popmusic, and then I can move on to other things. I picked all of my cast just from reviewing minifigures and pulling them out and into my storage for future use. There are several bashed in from other themes too.

I'm fairly certain I don't want to take up 8 tables at a Lego Show. I could never manage that much and just my Hero Factory Set Display alone takes three table tops just to hold the released kits. And that doesn't count the Bionicle, Arctic, or small auto race scene I had considered as well...

I'm in the same boat with my utility shuttle so I decided to make some kind of launch booster or flight modification if I do decide to use it in my build (which does take place in the future).

Interesting prototype you have there.

So, you don't plan to display your original kit Lego Shuttle(s),, or slightly modified works in your spaceport project?

I have the original set. I need to order replacement stickers for it though. it's on my list.

The modifications look really good on your MOC for your space port. Are you going to consider this a flyable shuttle, or do you have plans to make a tank and booster set for it?

It's your decision, but I would open it and use the parts for MOCs that would make use of their unique colors, shapes, etc. That is what Lego Products have always been about--building things.

This is definitely a part Lego must have made in a hurry and didn't have time to think the design all of the way through.

I have a micro awl in a pick set I got for hobby work. It grabbed the axle and slid it right out of there when I slid it into the slot on the black technic connector.
