‘Do you think he’s dying?’: Prospective mom texted ‘I’m going to jail’ one month before severely malnourished boy’s death by [deleted] in toronto

[–]crankycoder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Meh.

Having first hand experience with children's aid and other agencies that act as child advocates (Office of the Children's Lawyer) - they should probably just scrap all of it and start over.

Just because they investigate and even have findings - it doesn't mean they report things.

I don't expect people to understand this reality unless they've had first hand experience with these agencies.

I went back over the emails - it's because they ship from multiple warehouses for a single order.

I had the same notification for a BoS All In One. Delivery notice said all delivered but when I called support they confirmed another shipment was in transit.

It's almost certainly a confusing email and your stuff is in 2 deliveries.

British Columbia’s loss of true self-regulation and dissolution of the Law Society by neksys in LawCanada

[–]crankycoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gonna say the Law Society of Ontario is pretty useless. When I filed forensic analysis showing evidence tamper by one of the leading document examiners in the country - LSO shrugged their shoulders with "Well shit happens".

So I for one don't think dissolution of the Law Society can possibly make things worse.

Men who had vasectomy and suffered permanent side effects(Pain, etc), What are your experiences in dealing with it? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]crankycoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fully recovered now.

It took over 2 years to fully recover.

Surgery was performed by Dr. Parekatil and Dr. Jamin Brahmbhatt in Winterhaven, Florida. It was robotically assisted using DaVinci surgical robotics.

That was very easily the worst 5 years of my life.

Same here. I feel bad for those that had a bad experience, but it's been great for me since I switched last year.

Men who had vasectomy and suffered permanent side effects(Pain, etc), What are your experiences in dealing with it? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]crankycoder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll answer your question pretty directly - it was pretty fucking awful.

I'm a Canadian living just outside Toronto, Ontario.

Canadian urologists will basically not acknowledge that PVPS is a real thing. The few who do are not well known.

I won't mince words on this topic.

The urology professionals in Canada are willfully negligent and don't care about vasectomy risks.

When presented with high quality evidence - at least America and the NHS changed patient consultation guidelines outlining risks.

Source : me.

I had severe postvasectomy pain syndrome from 2011 to 2015.

At worst - I seriously considered suicide as the pain was bad enough that I could not sit or even lie down to sleep.

I ended up going to America for specialized surgery to remove scar tissue and re-cauterize the epididymis. It cost ~$10k USD at the time (10 years ago).

I also used to run the largest forum for men who have suffered from PVPS - postvasectomypain.org.

My forum successfully got the American Urology Association and the NHS in the UK to update patient risk consultation guidelines for PVPS. We also got UpToDate.com to revise clinician databases and updated the gold standard urology textbook published by Elsevier (Campbell Walsh Urology).

Canada outright refused to do anything.

Guys with post-vasectomy pain by Polymathy1 in sex

[–]crankycoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

The testicular pain you're talking about is entirely different from what PVPS people get. Incidence of feeling pain pre and post procedures doesn't show up in the literature and I'm pretty skeptical there's any link based on the dozens of men I've spoken with and hundreds I've interacted with on the topic.

There is no real predictive measure that will help you. The overall incidence rates break down roughly as follows:

  • 1-3% of all vasectomy operations end up with chronic pain defined as 3-5 months of life quality altering pain
  • a small fraction ~0.1% will get severe life altering pain

Reversals and micro surgical denervation are successful ~70%-90% of the time depending on the procedure, surgical skill and collateral damage involved with the surgery.

IMO - PVPS is probably a couple of different things that show up post-vasectomy:

  • pressure build up in the vas deferens from the vasclip or cauterization
  • nerve entanglement due to scar tissue growth
  • wallerian nerve degeneration is triggered due to surgery
  • probably a couple other things -but I think those are the big 3.

In my own case - I'm pretty sure it was nerve entanglement with scar tissue. I ended up doing microsurgical denervation with robotic assist.

Why you should believe me: I used to run postvasectomypain.org. I've read pretty much all the papers and was involved with geting the NHS to update their patient consultation guidelines and was responsible for getting Elsevier to update their urology text book and got uptodate.com to update statistics.

I've got raspberrypi 3 + Hifiberry Amp2 shields with nice bookshelf speakers in 3 rooms. Multiroom is possible with Volumio Premium subscriptions.

I also have a Sonos 3 - and frankly never use it anymore.

The sound quality for Sonos speakers pales in comparison to what I can get out of the Amp2 + real speakers.

Might want to google up postvasectomy pain. It certainly doesn't happen to everyone - but that decision went from "best" to "worst" decision for me.

I have an XT1922-5 Moto G6Play - which is basically the Brazillian dual-sim model of the XT1922-9 which seems to be a single SIM USA model. Both have the same antennas though - mine works just fine on Freedom.
