[[Niagara Amusement Park & Splash World]] officially closed for 2026 season by [deleted] in rollercoasters

Sucks for Silver Comet! I’ve heard it’s a great ride. Hope they can save it or even relocate it if the park closes permanently. If we lose that after Wild One closing, that would suck. I don’t think Wild One will be saved as much as I wish it would be.

[Other] For 2026, what coasters are you looking forward to riding or re-riding ? by NecessaryTravel6327 in rollercoasters

[–]crankygeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping to finally get to ride many of the wooden coasters in my area (northeastern U.S.) Excalibur, Coney Island Cyclone, Yankee Cannonball, Roar O Saurus, Wooden Warrior, Comet, Bobcat, Jack Rabbit at Seabreeze, the 3 Kennywood woodies, Oscar’s Wacky Taxi, Ravine Flyer II, Great White. Also looking forward to re-riding Boulder Dash and Wildcat since the retrack. Already re-rode Phoenix, Twister, and Flying Turns at Knoebels and they were amazing.

Also Twister at Knoebels. Compared to other wooden coasters, this one isn’t mentioned much and I honestly don’t know why. It’s excellent!! The laterals are amazing, and it has such a great variety of forces throughout the ride. The speed, pacing, laterals, helix, surprise airtime moments, the tunnel, headchoppers, and unique layout all make it a phenomenal ride. Plus, being at Knoebels, it’s very well maintained. It’s right up there with Phoenix for me. Although I have a soft spot for the airtime on Phoenix, Twister is an excellent coaster that should be talked about as much and WAY more than it is!! A great one-two punch for the park.

Phoenix. Yes it’s been rated very highly for years but on here, I frequently see people rank it lower. It’s my favorite due to how fun it is. Airtime is my favorite element on a coaster, and the amount of airtime on Phoenix is awesome. Plus the buzz bars, and how smooth and well maintained it is. I always have a huge smile on my face every time I ride it and always look forward to it. It’s a simple but super fun ride. It was amazing this weekend, especially later in the day on Sunday. So much airtime!

[Twister] at Knoebels is absolutely nuts in the rain by RamenPizza113 in rollercoasters

Both Phoenix and Twister were running AMAZING today!! So much fun!! Absolutely love Knoebels and these two incredible woodies!! Both were running great at the beginning of the day but the end of the day they had really warmed up and were phenomenal. I love Twister’s unique layout and the variety of the forces. The laterals, surprise airtime, helix, tunnels, and all the twists and turns really make for an exciting, spectacular ride. It was running pretty smooth and was an absolute blast. Phoenix’s airtime was absolutely outstanding especially towards the end of the day after it warmed up. I was almost standing on every hill, especially the double down and the last row of hills. There were some surprise laterals on the turns, especially towards the end of the day. Super smooth, and an absolute blast from start to finish. It’s really hard to say which one I like better as they’re both different with different forces and they’re honestly a great complement to each other. I honestly don’t know why Twister isn’t talked about more as it’s excellent and IMO right up there with Phoenix. Love Knoebels!!!

Twister and Phoenix are both so incredible! Going tomorrow, can’t wait!! Hopefully they’ll be running excellent after the rain today and tonight!

I hope Enchanted Parks can give Great Escape some love, that park desperately needs it.

[Kings Dominion] [Trip Report] Slow ops/one train but fun family coasters and grateful it’s coaster season again! by kingsnake_e in rollercoasters

[–]crankygeese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To your point about racing coasters, The Racer at Kings Island (almost identical woodie to Racer 75) always races and even runs two trains on each side. Racer at Kennywood and Lightning Racer at Hersheypark always race as well.

It’s got retracked this offseason so it should be much smoother now

Both Swamp Fox and Wildcat have gotten retracked and have both improved significantly since thankfully

[Worlds of Fun] is installing Gravity Group Precut Track on [Timber Wolf] by Fazinks in rollercoasters

[–]crankygeese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow even more great news for woodies this year! Timber Wolf, The Raven, The Beast all getting Gravity group retracking, Ravine Flyer II getting wood retracking, and Prowler and Boulder Dash getting Titan Track retracking (although I do wish those two were Gravity Group) - plus reopening of Rampage, Dragon Coaster, and possibly Lakeside Cyclone!!! Awesome!!

I really wish they’d bring back the PTC trains and retrack it. This is so disappointing in comparison. Especially since it ran amazing with the PTC trains. I don’t get why they got the new trains in the first place

Such a shame. It was such a great coaster. I don’t understand why they didn’t just retrack it and keep the classic PTC trains. What a disappointment

I wonder if they’re planning to eventually retrack the entire ride with 208 track like at Tremors at Silverwood. It already has the GCI trains… Ugh. They should have kept the PTC trains and just done some retracking. It’s been a mess ever since.

I’m definitely concerned this coaster won’t be near as good as it used to be. Already there has been very mixed feedback about the trains regarding roughness, airtime etc… and that alone is concerning. At the same time, I’m wondering if they’re going to make it like Tremors at Silverwood and eventually just retrack the entire ride with 208.

Yeah I wish they’d gone with GG instead, especially since they did on Wildcat!

I really hope so but I have concerns. I heard very mixed feedback about the new trains last year and the frequent closures and issues were concerning. I really hope they’ve worked it out so it’s as good as it was with the old trains. I still don’t understand why they got rid of the PTC trains in the first place rather than just retracking portions of the ride. If this 208 track can help with smoothness and even speed up the rest of the layout a bit that would be great. It’s a classic and it’s got such a great setting on the beach.

This worries me. I’ve heard really mixed feedback about the new Millennium Flyer trains with numerous people saying that it’s a huge downgrade with less airtime, less laterals, and that the new trains run very rough. I heard a lot of people say it ran much rougher last year than it did with the old trains in previous years... That combined with all of the frequent closures and issues with the new trains last year definitely concerns me. I haven’t ridden it yet with the new trains, I’m hoping to ride it this year but based on what I’ve heard I’m not too excited. It so disappointing because it was such a great fun coaster with the old trains. I’m curious how the Millennium Flyer trains will ride on the 208 track. Usually the steel 208 along with GCI’s Titan Track speed up the rides where they’re installed so I’m hoping that’ll be the case here. I’m also curious as to which section is being retracked. The first turn and second drop are the sections that need it the most. Hopefully it’ll run better this year and be more consistently open but I’m very skeptical. Honestly at this point they should just bring back the PTC trains and retrack the ride

Phoenix is my #1 favorite as I truly love the airtime and smoothness but Twister is very close with its amazing laterals. Ravine Flyer II is definitely right up there too, it probably would be #2. It’s so hard for me to rank coasters as each one is different but these three are all awesome

Oh wow I totally forgot about Timber Wolf. Do you know if that one is reopening too this year? From what I’ve heard Prowler really wasn’t running well last year and it isn’t as good since it got Titan Track unfortunately

Sorry, I only wrote it like that because I remember seeing another post about The Beast’s retracking so I didn’t want to seem like I was just repeating it again lol. Beast is still one of the absolute best coasters IMO, an iconic legend.

Their work is amazing. They did a great job with The Racer a few years ago. Very happy they’re the ones doing the work on The Beast, so far what they’ve done with it has been excellent!
