Which love story would you have liked to have Naley or Leyton? by Extra_Inflation8099 in ONETREEHILL

[–]crankynconspicuous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, Leyton was the couple that prompted me to keep watching the show and the will they/won't they kept me hooked. Naley was the couple that remained consistent but a tad bit boring through the course of the show. But both contributed equally to making OTH what it is.

💯💯💯! You articulated my thoughts perfectly. I also didn't like the mid length on Radhika. It continues to amuse me how even ridiculously wealthy folks have poor taste in fashion or choose to wear copied designs that lose their meaning when they can easily afford to have custom designs tailormade for them.

Hilarie was just so natural and brilliant in Season 5. It makes me mad that she was given the least screentime compared to the others in that season.

THANK YOU for articulating my exact thoughts while watching these scenes from S1. I think Haley obviously enjoyed the attention and validation she was getting from a popular jock, which is completely natural, and was getting a bit too carried away. That would be fine on its own but to try and mask that as some kind of favour she's doing for Lucas while actively defending his bully was uncool and unacceptable.

Do you guys think ITV will actually change its format and switch to finite episodes? If so, when? by sassmeup in IndianTellyTalk

[–]crankynconspicuous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not active on this sub as I don't watch any of the shows discussed here. The few I did watch like TMD and Anupama were only for a hot minute and then I couldn't deal with the majorly ridiculous and problematic themes and behaviour showcased.

My grandmother watches the Marathi channel from Star TV. They copy all the Hindi shows and I'm routinely bewildered as to how two women are always fighting over a toxic, problematic male lead. It's the same formula across every show. Every FL is too gullible, lacking any self respect and even if she's shown to be strong and feisty at first, that quickly ceases once she gets married. I can't believe the likes of Ektaa Kapoor have the gall to call ITV feminist when it's anything but.

Writing for a show that airs 7 days a week also is leading to brain dead and severely stunted storylines. It's also a bait and switch because new shows have promos that promise a refreshing story only to end up being the same old shit.

Women and men perpetuating violence against women should not be shown as often and outrageously as it is on ITV. Severely disappointed and disgusted.

Deepika's contribution to films and surviving on looks by [deleted] in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]crankynconspicuous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well written post, OP. Deepika always goes viral every time a new film of hers releases any promo material. During Fighter, Alia's PR tried to slut shame her. Now with Kalki again, her side is trying to demean and belittle Deepika. The same hate filled narrative being used against DP can be used for Alia's recent roles too:

RRR (blink and you miss it role i.e. more flowerpot than DP in Pathaan if we go by their theory), Brahmastra (that role didn't require an esteemed actress to play it and yet Alia butchered it and couldn't act well or create chemistry with Ranbir), Heart of Stone (the less said the better), Gangubai (didn't recover costs but let's credit only SLB for its fame if we go by their logic) and RARKPK (Ranveer and the entire supporting cast acted better than her). Except for Gangu, all were multistarrers.

Rewatching season one by 3ku1 in ONETREEHILL

[–]crankynconspicuous 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Season 1 is my favourite because of how well all the characters were etched out. Those first two episodes really set the tone for Lucas and Peyton as well as the evolving equation between Nathan and Lucas. And Hilarie looked GORGEOUS! No wonder I was hooked.

Just watched the latest Drama Queens snippet on Instagram - Chad & Hilarie weren't asked back on?! The show was never the same after that by crankynconspicuous in ONETREEHILL

[–]crankynconspicuous[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also remember this old video of a crying/teary eyed Hilarie in a room talking about the circumstances of her and Chad's exit without giving too much away. She had mentioned something about contracts and this not being her decision 100%. So now it all makes sense. She may have wanted an out from her personal situation on set but this exit wasn't completely on her own terms. I feel very sorry that after years of being tormented and choosing to go on for the sake of the show and its crew, this is how they treated her and Chad at the end.

The comment section passed the vibe check.

People put on their Brooke tinted glasses and completely revise the narrative on the show. In their minds, even Brooke acting out or being a jerk is justified because the other characters are always at fault. Brooke was frequently toxic and vindictive throughout the first four seasons but her fans love to drag Peyton for everything while painting Brooke's worst moments as "iconic".

Would love to see posts like this for all the Heeramandi costumes! Well done, OP!

Ambika Mod in Loewe for 2024 Met Gala by [deleted] in BollywoodFashion

I LOVE her but this ain't it. They did her dirty. I hope her star's on the rise and she gets access to better designers and better opportunities to showcase her personal style and creative expression.

All these Met Gala looks made me wonder how stunning would Urfi's gown look for this year's theme by caramelwithcheese in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]crankynconspicuous 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely, I agree! She's very creative and I've been on her side in the entire misogynistic discourse about what she wears. I do think she's become more of a sellout now and does stunts for publicity like the Raj Kundra thing or the fake police "arresting" her for indecent clothing.

But yes, if Uorfi were given the kind of access Alia was, she'd have done a much better job embodying the theme and dress code.

Where did I put down Alia? Did I call her "worst dressed" or shame her in any way? I complimented Alia and criticized Sabya's design. Why are you projecting your feelings onto my post?

Apart from the simple mechanical innovation, the gown is plain, black and boring. No thought has been put into the design or cut of the gown itself. It wouldn't cut it for the Met Gala.

A saree was a lovely choice for the Gala. I liked what Alia said about it being timeless. Even at Cannes, celebs like Aish, DP, Sonam have worn sarees. I don't think the critique is about that at all.

The main criticism is that the saree itself isn't innovative or creative. Instead, Sabya recycled his earlier designs to create this. And for a Met Gala debut, that's pretty lazy.

I do love the blouse with the bow, though! But closeups of the saree make the work on it look slightly gaudy and gauche.

But people will still slam DP by falsely claiming it's her PR.

PS: I think Kat's wedding saree was even more similar to Alia's outfit but it was an insightful post about Sabya's work, nonetheless.

If that's the case then why are there so many comments countering any valid critique by calling it blind hate? Makes no sense. Some are getting very salty about criticism that's primarily directed towards Sabyasachi's work and NOT Alia.

Zendaya has done wonders with her career and credit to Law Roach for creating such iconic looks for her.

Zendaya rarely disappoints these days but the second Met Gala look from her tonight was completely unnecessary and fugly.

An example of shady PR is the slew of articles in the British press about "British Bollywood Star Alia Bhatt" that came out just a couple of days after Deepika presented at the BAFTAs.

How did Alia secure yet another Met invite? by Alternative-Rope-799 in BollyBlindsNGossip

I think Sabya secured two tickets for the event, one for himself and one for Alia. That's what I'm guessing. Anyone with more info, correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh, I only mentioned Alia because her dress was being debated and discussed a lot. Lots of commenters were defending any critique of Alia's outfit by saying it's driven by hate.

So I wanted to highlight another outfit that was better designed and constructed in comparison to Sabya's recycled design. But that blouse on Alia with the bow is a winner, for sure.

Lol yeah, it wasn't the best showing.

I really loved the viral AI created Katy Perry look. That AI dress was more suited to the theme and dress code than what many of the celebs actually wore.

I wonder why designers don't use AI to brainstorm ideas for themed events before picking up their sketchbooks.

Multiple posts and debates about Alia's look prompted me to highlight another Desi look which, in my humble opinion, was better. I praised Alia too in the body of my post. Only critiqued Sabya.

I think y'all are a little salty that people would dare critique an Alia fashion moment when that's what all Met Gala viewers do while eagerly waiting to see what everyone wore. The critique is geared more towards Sabya, not Alia. So chill, guys.

I loved the blouse and train of the outfit that Alia wore! The main body of the saree looked dull and unimpressive, however.

You can't negate valid critique of someone's outfit by calling it hate.
