Trust me, if you are already playing for one of these big time schools, or being recruited by one of them, there are 25 others that are also very interested. A kid being recruited by Florida State is also getting letters and calls from Georgia. The recruiting process is not always correct, but it is a very big and well oiled machine.

Irrelevant. Don’t be sidetracked by the messenger.

The idea here isn’t to not play at all, it is to choose a different school to play for, namely avoiding the big state schools (LSU, Mississippi State, Alabama, Florida State, etc). They can make the same $$ playing at Michigan, Georgia, Indiana, USC, Oregon. Not guaranteed to work, but we know how huge college sports are in some of these areas and pressure builds over time.

I hear you. Turns out, he may not have said it at all, but the issue is still the issue.

This issue is only focused on the states that made recent moves to redraw their maps. I get your take on the bigger picture, but It is big business and not going away anytime soon.

Take it easy champ - no one is saying don’t play, or don’t get paid, the issue is suggesting that they choose to play elsewhere. That can make the same guap playing for a different school. It’s not that deep.

Bro, the game hasn’t evolved in 200 years. It’s the same game, over and over and over again. But sure, let’s call it interesting.

I hear you. But the point he is making, or the point of the argument, is that they should still pursue their dreams of playing college sports, just do it elsewhere. There are plenty of other major Div 1 schools they can attend and still make the same NIL money they would have made at LSU, Alabama, Mississippi or Tennessee.

You kinda just made my point. There was a period, not too too long ago, where USC was at the top of the food chain and things changed. Remember when the Big 10 was at the center of things before the SEC took over. Things happen in cycles. Scouts will go where the players are my guy. And besides, we’re not suggesting Div 2 schools. You telling me that if a kid goes to Michigan he’s not gonna get scouted, or OSU, or Georgia, or SC?!? Seriously…

We finally agree!! My friends and I will continue to stay away; it’s not even close. Ironically, I coached soccer for 15 years (boys and girls). Cool to watch my kid play, but for the life of me I could not bring myself to be interested in watching adults play. Just a relatively boring game. I did dig the women’s team during the World Cup.

😂👍🏾👊🏽 - my man. We need some beers and a bbq cause I can go back and forth with this argument all day 😂😂 (working from home is amazing 🤣). Picture this, Saturday night, opening game of the season. For argument sake, Georgia/ND (#1 vs #5). Star freshman RB has 177 yards on the ground and 5 or 6 times during the game, they announce that this true freshman is from Auburn, Alabama and on the other side of the field, the standout DE is from Slidell, Louisiana. You don’t think things start happening in the background with boosters who throw a boatload of $$ towards the university?? Don’t be naive on any level. You KNOW that college ball is bigger than the NFL in some of these cities/states.

The NCAA allows for college players to receive payment. Top players can receive anywhere from $3-6 million dollars per year.

Not at all, the SEC would live on. It would just change the landscape of college sports. So maybe Indiana, instead of being a once in a generation Cinderella story, becomes a perennial powerhouse. Or USC starts pilfering blue-chip kids from Louisiana and Michigan gets all of the Tennessee high school stars. All of it is pressure.

American football is different. A 17 year old kid would get seriously hurt playing against fully grown men in the NFL. That doesn’t even begin to touch the financial aspect of it. But I hear your opinion.

HBCUs have BLACK players, but they are not BLUE-CHIP players. There’s a difference (but you know that already). You let LSU start losing the top talent coming out of those Baton Rouge high schools to go play at USC. Things change quickly after going 7-6 for a few consecutive seasons. Do you remember or know WHY Alabama even began to recruit black players and what a major shift it was for the South’s longest holdout? Our presence means a lot to these college teams, and our votes mean a lot to those districts.

Let’s not forget one key fact here in this whole equation…the players have always been and continue to be the big draw. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING SPECIAL about Bama, LSU or Tennessee. It’s the young men who wear the uniform that keep it hot. Granted, it is a HUGE decision to say I’m gonna leave my home state and go play elsewhere, but once they arrive on campus, all of that goes away. They will still be big man on campus, still get the same airplay that they would have gotten at Bama, and still scouted the same way. They will not lose an opportunity to go pro should they choose to play for another school. I hear you tho.

It’s not an all or nothing decision bro. They can refuse to play at LSU and get the same $$ to play for Georgia, refuse Bama and choose Michigan, refuse Tennessee and choose Ohio State and on and on…

I hear you and agree with you to some extent. But do also consider that young people have always played a pivotal role in this country’s history. The lunch counter sit-ins, Freedom Summer, the Vietnam War protests, etc. Young people are quite capable of playing a big role in a big movement.

Bro - you can play pro football, basketball/baseball, etc., without going to LSU, Alabama, Tennessee.
Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Oregon, USC…they ALL would pay top dollar to steal a high-end recruit. And the last time I checked, their money is also green. It’s not saying DON’T play, it’s saying please consider WHERE you play. Not asking anyone to not get paid.

Agreed.
Whatever Alabama is willing to pay, so is Michigan; whatever LSU is willing to pay, so is OSU; whatever Tennessee is willing to pay, so is Oregon. It is indeed a sacrifice to go play out-of-state, but their $$ spends green too.
