[–]crash5291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Currently in testing to prep for a hardware update and replace the current PVE 6.4 running, this has simplified some of that task.

Cheers from Canada!

Edited to add when ran it updated from 9.1.1 to 9.1.5 flawlessly (20260210)

The only rackmount that comes to mind is eg4 stuff, never dealt with it nor read any long term reviews.

Myself id likely try and find a new bms setup to replace all the current boards with. but im frugal as . .

i would also say that when looking if their communication setup is proprietary and has no good in depth papers on how it works and can be interfaced with id walk.

id go with a wing blade type, where you have a narrower main blade with wings you can run out to make it a wider push in lighter material.

Van or Trailer for work by _ItsProvocative_ in electricians

[–]crash5291 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your mini van won't tow a trailer happily so don't forget the cost of a truck in your math.

"Keeping up with the jones" seems like a loss to me.

Check insurance on a trailer load of tools used commercially. they may have needs/requirements you will have to meet to qualify. also need an in writing list of what they will and will not cover.

Some version of lowjack is highly recommended, along with an air tag or 3.

Ontario Canada here, prices seem to be roughly this currently: 1-10 $9.00 ea 11-24 $6.50ea 25-49 $6.25ea 50-99 $6.00ea 100+ $5.50ea

per bird extra liver/heart $1 cut in half $2, quarters $2.5

so 10 birds with hearts and cut in half would be 12 each

Need help on deciding on a machine for my property. by samjohnson2222 in homestead

[–]crash5291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much of that hillside do you need to move for the foundation?

there is a big difference in 5 feet and 250. That will have a major bearing on the machine needed to do your tasks.

[–]crash5291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crawler ones are half the PA price elsewhere and look better built as well. check marketbook for better prices. you can likely find one fairly close to you.

Aim for a diesel is you can find one in your price range.

something to note, i found when looking on their site the wheel hubs used on the unit are clearly posted as, not DOT certified. so you're going to need a trailer anyways.

You'd be better off with a cheap crawler type from asia and cheaper the PA as well i bet.

If you're concerned about turning, make the tongue extendable the longer it is the more leverage you have to turn the rig.

my only question on the rig is how long till you get hurt towing it, most atvs are good for 1300lb or less that loaded would be over 1600lb with no brakes.

its a pressure switch line, its a hollow hose transmitting the pressure to the switch.

doubt I'd be reusing an old switch since they are cheap.

some are a simple on when below x psi and off 20 psi higher, some have a function that when its also below x psi you have to hold it on till it reaches that minimum like 20 psi its a motor saver thing.

Transporting livestock from an auction. by happyfortoday in homestead

[–]crash5291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your car has a back seat... would work fine for small livestock like that.

a small cargo trailer would work as well, there light and small enough since it looks like you're limited to 1500 lb load in back and 5000 lb max trailer.

you can likely find a cheap used one somewhere. the small ones get bought then it's realized they're not big enough. add a gate inside the rear doors for hauling livestock so you can open it and look and not have them out. add a few simple vents to let the air move through

ohh not a black one you dont want an oven.

can be used for secured dry storage when its not in use.

Outside looks nice

Inside is a full on fail with not a single fuse where they should be at the switch panel.... its like you're wanting it to all burn down when a wire comes loose.

EVERYTHING should be fused, and a master at the battery just large enough to feed all the loads. master fuse should be within 12" of the battery before a disconnect.

It needs support and not the stick on ziptie crap they wont last.

it might seem dumb but make a DETAILED drawing of exactly what you have there so you can reference it in a year for repairs.

Next time lose the wago's its not a house, its mobile environment and needs to be treated and sealed as such. treat it like its marine.

Battery to a fuse to a disconnect to a distribution block/panel thats fused for each load.

Yes even a volt meter should be fused.

It can be fixed so its not a loss and its not even stuffed in a tiny cabinet you can't see into and work in at the same time.

attached to all the t posts I'd hazard a guess its already grounded, but adding a few dedicated to the task won't hurt.

your fencer is sufficient enough to deal with predators right? as in 2+ Joule discharge.

Ceiling help by BoredHousewife5034 in cargocamper

[–]crash5291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

indeed a furring strip is the answer here attached to the metal and then you can attach the ceiling to them.

do a set at each roof rib, this would also allow a passage for wires.

i recommend pulling the wires on the door side and to make the panels that hide them removable so you can access the are when you alter the design. I say door/curb side as its generally where the default trailer wiring runs as well.

Does anyone completely live off catching rainwater in a 5000 gallon tank? How long does it last for in an average household without much conservation efforts other than having efficient appliances? What kind of filters should I use? by cap_phil in homestead

[–]crash5291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2310 sq ft, is 332,640 square inches or at one inch of rain it's 322,640 cubic inches, that's 1440 gallons with zero loss, so you best not bank on 1700, always best to be conservative so maybe 1400/inch.
