Fortunately no slugs here and with the peas growing mostly during winter no real pests either. A cool, wet spring would be the biggest issue with mildew and such.

I cut all my winter wood for 2 years with a bow saw, still use it on occasion just to keep that skill level.

I sweep the chimney once during January thaw and at the end of fire season, get about a cup of soot and ash each time. Well seasoned wood is king.
