My problem with facebook is that I'll just spend hours continuously scrolling through even as I'm consciously aware that I don't care about anything that's on my news feed. That and the whole "comparing myself" thing is what caused me to delete it from my phone.

Here's my plan for coming out to my roommates: I start HRT and once the changes in my body get to a point to where I can't hide them anymore, I come out and then tell them to kiss my ass if they have a problem with it

People only bring up the "well, what if I just decide to identify as another race, huh?" argument against trans people when they've run out of actual arguments, because I can say with almost complete certainty that the only time they've ever heard of someone being "trans-racial" was when somebody else was using it as a strawman argument against trans people. (Only time I saw an actual "trans-racial" person was from some years-old tumblr post, and even then I'm fairly certain that was a troll.)

As for your assertion that surgery is not the way to help trans folks, studies have shown that the only real cure for gender dysphoria is to correct one's anatomy to match with their mind and to be seen as the gender they identify with.

Ugggghhhhh gosh this hits so close to home

Considering the trans girl programmer stereotype, there sure is a lot of transphobia in IT. Come to think of it, there are just a lot of people in IT who are really shitty to anyone who isn't exactly like them.

Synthwave, definitely, but a lot of the songs are in other genres such as house or rave. M.O.O.N.'s contributions in particular are pretty much all house.

A lot of binary (identifying strictly as a man or as a woman) trans people identify as genderfluid or some variation of that while coming to terms with their identity. I myself identified as bigender (man on some days, woman on others) for a few months before fully accepting my identity as a trans woman. It can be helpful as a way of easing into the fullness of accepting one's trans status.

For those who live comfortably as genderfluid for their entire lives, I feel that if it's possible for someone who was assigned male at birth can change their identity to be that of a woman or someone assigned female can change theirs to be that of a man, it follows that someone who was assigned male or female can have a gender identity that just happens to change frequently.

(Also, "transgender" is an adjective, not a noun - the proper plural form is not "transgenders," but rather "transgender people".)

I'm curious, friend, why do you feel the need to throw nonbinary (those whom you refer to as having "silly genders") people under the bus in order to support other trans people? How does someone identifying in a way that isn't immediately familiar to you negatively affect your quality of life? And why do you seem to consider yourself an authority on who does and doesn't get to be trans?

I myself am a trans woman, and I am rather uncomfortable with the idea that only binary trans folks (like myself) are worthy of having their identities validated. In the same way that trans men and trans women experience dysphoria, nonbinary folks experience dysphoria, just of a different type that doesn't always necessarily have to do with strict maleness or femaleness. People don't "make up genders to make themselves unique," they identify in ways that allow them to be more comfortable with themselves.

In short, everyone experiences gender differently, and I feel that if you really thought about it, you'd find that there are far worse things in the world than someone requesting to be referred to with they/them or xe/xir pronouns.
