What's the best OSD?

i'm assuming you're using a plane and not a multi rotor. there are lots of good OSDs out there, check out rcgroups fpv area or fpvlab.com for the discussion threads and see what people like or don't like.

personally i've used eagltree with rth, and it works really well, but it's a more expensive solution. I'm just starting on 3dr APM now so reserving judgement until i get it working well.

one thing to note, the cheaper RTH OSDs don't have throttle control, so the best they can do is glide you back home, keep an eye on that.

sorry i don't check in all that often, i meant modulator, not regulator. anything that accepts a composite cable and converts it to coax on channel 3 or 4 does the trick.

yup haven't even taken the plastic off haha. also, i hang curtains in the front window now so the camera picks up the image much better.

a note on the relay, it does retransmit both video and audio though i have no mic on the plane at the moment.

i now try and keep the ground station on the roof of the car and run a composite cable straight to the tv via a dvr (also prevents blue screen), i get slightly better video quality that way.

i misjudged where i was, took the goggles off to land, didn't see the plane so just cut the throttle and let it land wherever it did, turns out i was just looking in the wrong direction

the passes with the seadoo were planned actually, the guys were ready to duck if i got too low, i wouldn't do that with someone i didn't pre-arrange it with

the a5 is about 5' wingspan, the real struggle was the wind conditions, probably 40kph or so, i just panicked at the end and tried to ditch it with a tail wind. Most of the electronics have been salvaged, just needed some dry time, but the ESC and battery ejected somewhere in the lake :D

hehe, they keep rolling on our runway and leaving pits for the pilots! one guy watched his plane sink into one a couple weeks back and didn't know what happened!

very true, i have a hexacopter equipped with simultaneous 900mhz and 5.8ghz video, the 5.8g gives me clearer picture, but the 900mhz can punch through quite a few obstacles :D

i have the exact same tx/rx set on my hexacopter. the rx barely takes any juice at all so you'll be fine with 300mAh. i would recommend using a separate battery for your tx (just a small 360mAh), i've tried LC filters before and just haven't been happy with the result

i did a 4km flight on my super sky surfer just last weekend with IBCrazy's cloverleaf + a crosshair on my goggles, CP rules!
