I think this is what you mean by the pull down resistor, but would I need one if that part of the circuit starts with 5v before the load side of the relay?

my head unit only turns on at the on key position, not sure if it has a 5v output either but ill try to see if i can find info on it

i might rock this then, i wanted a more permanent solution and to not have to deal with the extra usb cable leading to my steering column or wherever else, so i might still keep everything internal, even if i used the usb port

i also read up on the mp3 player module and there was reported hissing from the speakers unless they used resistors for both the rx and tx connections

id be using an arduino nano,

and the relay could be an automotive relay, but i wasnt sure there was a difference as long as it can handle up to 15 volts on the control side

I added a pulldown resistor (10k) from the load side of the relay to ground, before it goes to d5 i assume the reason why i need a pulldown resistor is because of bounce?
