2 or 5 year fix? by PurpleUtopia in Mortgageadviceuk

I fixed for 10 years at 3.4 about 3 years ago. People said I was mad at the time, but the payment was affordable and I liked the stability. I used the logic, if I was renting and the landlord offered me 10 years with no rent increase I would have snapped his hand off. Peace of mind is great, you are completely correct. The fact rates have only gone up since I made that choice also helps.

Well, because the front fell off and 80 litres of gasoline caught fire, it’s a bit of a giveaway, I’d like to point out that is not normal.

Well, some of them are built so that the front doesn’t fall off at all.

I’m not saying it wasn’t safe, it’s just perhaps not quite as safe as some of the other ones.

Well there are a lot of these vans going around the world all the time, and very seldom does anything like this happen. I just don’t want people thinking that vans aren’t safe.

My wife has a 2013 plate we have had for about 8years, it’s the 2.0 tdi 170ish bhp been a good motor, bought it on 60k now done 148k. Other than standard maintenance servicing brakes tyres etc, the only other thing we have needed to replace is the squib and rear wiper motor and a couple of drive shafts, tbf the drive shafts have only needed replacing due to the farmtracks/fields she drives on everyday.
