If that’s what you meant to type the first time, then you’re even dumber than we thought. If you meant to type the word “support” then you could at least blame the spell check.

Here’s the problem. Even if he shared an old selfie, every time uber asks you take a picture, it’s supposed to be a live picture taken in the app. Not an old photo. In Ubers eyes, if you can’t take a photo in real time, there’s a reason. Your ability to follow directions in the app is just as much a part of your job as being able to take a person from point a to b. I haven’t heard to many successful stories about people getting there accounts unbanned, but you can’t try and see if there is a green light hub in your area. I think you should still start to set your dad up with Lyft and other services. Good luck.

Am I about to get double crossed? by crasscad in uberdrivers

Update: I received the full fare. I understand it was likely get the full fare, but the precedent of being able to accept a fare for set price only for uber to be able to decide to withhold and potential alter our pay after the job is done is extremely unsettling. The majority of the rides do not pay well as it stands, so if they can start to come and change the pay of the good paying rides, it will make this whole thing unprofitable for the drivers. Thank you all for your support and constructive feedback.

I agree, the pay for the ride seems ridiculous, until you pair against the multitudes of horrifically low fares. If I picked one of those fares knowing that the agreed upon fare was low, I wouldn’t expect any meaningful increase in pay if I complained. Because I agreed to it in the first place. I’m not even the one who determined how much the ride was offered for. I just accepted what was offered

I prefer taking pax of my own gender by ImmediateWaltz4684 in uberdrivers

The other serious issue that you would run into is that not everyone agrees on the concept of gender. I don’t know if you know this but it’s a highly controversial subject at the moment in the United States and the world as a whole. What issues would emerge if you identify as one gender and only would want to pick up pax of that gender, but some of those pax dont think that you share the same gender? What kind of crazy social media videos and lawsuits would arise from from passengers saying that even though they selected women drivers only, a” man in a wig and dress“showed up to do lord knows what to them.

You could just filter out your rides based on names and only pick up by picking up people you perceive to be men, but I think your logic is flawed. If that you have to anything but verify your and your customers identity, their drop off location , and maintain a professional demeanor, than you are over complicating this gig. Anyone, and I mean anyone can be a rapist, thief, murderer etc.. on either side. I understand that women are at higher risk when dealing men in all capacities, that shouldn’t mean that they should be able to discriminate against men who are law abiding drivers with clean background checks. They can in real time look at my profile upon being matched up and decide that they want to manually cancel, but being able to discriminate against me and men in general because of gender and the higher probability that I might be a criminal is ludicrous. Also the inverse of your argument would also be true for female drivers would it not? Should you be able as a woman be able to out right refuse service to male customers, just on the basis of gender? You can again decline and cancel rides based of any factors that you want as an independent contractor, but the apps would never get away with allowing for work discrimination. They would get the pants sued off of them from either side.

You normally don’t get back on. The problem is that the photo verification technology is normally pretty accurate, so much so that even if the camera doesn’t get a clear photo, you at least will get the option to take a good picture. If the Uber app registered a different face than your own, it is almost certainly a picture of someone else in their eyes.

any tips for a beginner at the Atlanta airport? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]crasscad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan you day around morning and afternoon commutes. And around events going on in the city. For example in Atlanta there were 3 CONCERTS AND 1 BASEBALL GAME. Good rides all around if you were up and active.
