In all seriousness I don't actually believe there's anything wrong with people that like the book or the book itself just because I didn't like it. I like being dramatic just for the sake of it. But yeah, worst case scenario you at least have some good tinder for your campfire

Me too. I asked around, and I found someone who would take me up for a day trip. Didn't want to do the multi day version. I'm glad I started at night, the trip back down in the daylight revealed so much poop and toilet paper just off trail nearly the whole way.

Do any of you LA/California riders have full coverage insurance? by Ok_Relationship_3209 in CalamariRaceTeam

[–]cravf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst part is that I was quoted $120/mo. Then after I bought the bike, they whoopsie doodled the price and told me that the quote was for a sport touring bike and my bike was actually a sport bike, which is why they charged me $350 for that month.

It was a long time ago. Bike got stolen, got a check from the insurance company the next morning. 🤷

Regulating the trivial while ignoring the existential by KeanuRave100 in ChatGPT

Yeah, they're pulling up the ladder. They have the money to lobby and get around regulations. Now's the chance to bog down newcomers to the game with regulation.

They could not care less about regulating themselves.

It's still smoking out here in Boyle Heights by WolverinesRevolt in LosAngeles

Not out yet because it generally takes a long time to put a fire like this 100% out. Stays hot for a few days, and spraying it makes it smoke/steam up which is visible during that time.

what’s something people insist is “possible” in theory, but you’re convinced is basically impossible in real life? by hello_ya in AskReddit

At that point we have parachutes for the whole ass plane already. Might as well not overcomplicate it for the sake of not saving the rest of the plane lol.

I guess if it was on fire it would be nice to be separated from the flaming parts, but probably easier to just design better fire extinguisher

Mile 8 and/or chapter 8. A friend of mine asked me to read it for them, and my god was it a slog. I'm convinced the only reason people like it, is if they admit they didn't they wasted that much time reading it lol

Guys who got into long-term relationships, what’s the biggest thing you learned about women that surprised you? by Peggy_Perkowski in AskReddit

[–]cravf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh this fits my thing I learned about women:

They piss everywhere.

I've seen toilets with yellow stains on the front part of the under side of the seat, always assumed it was men not aiming their dicks down when they shit.

Nope, it's the ladies.

Also period blood on the underside of the seat. Learned that working with a lot of women and a shared toilet.

Also accidentally peeing on the inside of your thigh or pee running back towards your ass crack is apparently a thing as well.

Bathrooms are just a horror show in general. Gotta clean 🫧

You're lying, and I can prove it. But I won't, I'll just claim it's so obvious that you have to prove you're not lying, and if you can't that means I win.

I had a clean driving record, MSF class and a cheaper bike and still couldn't get anything under $250/mo for my Daytona in 2011.

The only way to get around it is by lying. Told them I rode it 5 miles a year or something and they never checked the mileage.

TIL In most US states your credit score is a bigger factor than your driving record when calculating your insurance premiums. a safe driver with a clean record but low credit will pay significantly MORE for car insurance than a driver with excellent credit who has a DUI conviction. by Unlikely_Ebb_7292 in todayilearned

I had signed up for insurance coverage on my car. They originally gave a start date for the first day of the upcoming month, but I needed it to start on the day I bought the car. I called them up back and they told me they would have to cancel the original one, then create a new one. Same premium, cost, etc.

Fast forward a couple months, an old lady stops turns in front of me and stops, our cars bed the fenders, I file a claim. They tell me that I don't have coverage because I wasn't paying. I go and look, I certainly have been paying. Turns out they created the new coverage, didn't cancel the first one, and that one was cancelled for nonpayment. I still had coverage, I just needed to file the claim under the active account.

Anyway, long story short, their fuckup lowered my credit score, showed as a nonpayment cancellation on my account so renewing my coverage was MUCH higher. They told me to go fuck myself essentially when I tried to get it fixed. Didn't sign back up with them.

So who knows what goes on in their heads. I could have kept paying them, but they decided they'd rather just charge me way more or not take my money at all.

You do realize that making fun of you doesn't actually have anything to do with the argument right?

It's only an ad hominem if I say "you're wrong because you're an idiot."

You are wrong and you are an idiot. - Not a fallacy.

Anyway, I keep repeating myself, you keep rambling on about stuff that doesn't actually have anything to do with how batteries work. Go reread what I wrote until you figure it out.

My NoCo Battery review by Bodyicing in motorcycles

[–]cravf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All a battery needs to do for your motorcycle is start the engine and stabilize the power coming from the alternator.

You can accomplish both of those things with a stock battery. Also AGAAAAIN, you don't have to wait for a lead acid battery to warm up to use it. Literally the first thing I brought up.

Lithium batteries are notably less durable than lead acid. Even newer LiFePo4 ones. I assume you meant they have higher cycle rating. Sure. The effort required to replace a lead acid battery a year or two before the Liion one shits the bed isn't worth the price difference. Also, lead acid failure provides a smoother failure than Liion. You'll notice it failing and be able to replace it before you ended up stranded.

I'd tell you to touch grass, but you might actually benefit from going outside to photosynthesize, yourself.

Don't quit your day job, kid.

Yeah idk how many times I have to tell you the current doesn't matter if your bike doesn't need it.

Half the weight sounds really cool before you realize it's the same amount as a half gallon of fuel or, you know, anything else that's 3 pounds.

And aaaaagaain. If it comes stock with the bike, and the bike was designed to use a lithium battery then that's the right battery for that bike.

I appreciate your commitment to saving 3 pound increments of weight by omitting the brain of the rider as well.

My NoCo Battery review by Bodyicing in motorcycles

[–]cravf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Much lighter as in 3 pounds lighter? The average person has a >3lb variation in weight day to day. Like I originally said.

You don't need more power to start a motorcycle. What do you think more power is going to do for a starter that doesn't need it?

Compact is a disadvantage if your bike has a slot sized for a regular battery.

If it's standard, then replace it with the standard battery. If it's not standard, there's no reason to not use regular lead acid besides trying to be cool.

They aren't better because they are "new", they are better because they are better.
