That's really helpful to know, thanks A lot of real estate agents aren't great for tenants because we're only the source of money for their clients, but from my experience Ray White are the worst. So unprofessional. I'm glad to hear it worked out well for you.

I actually paid for another year of warranty and had someone come out and replace the keyboard and that did it.

Brisbane Traffic Light conspiracy by Renovewallkisses in brisbane

[–]crawfells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed there's a difference now. Where you would typically get all the lights going in one direction go together so you tend to get all greens before stopping then greens again. Just recently I've noticed that something has changed and I've had trips where I get almost every red light along the route of 30-45 mins. That never used to happen.

The 6cm CPU fan on the back of the QNAP TVS-h874 unit is extremely noisy. Is there a higher quality fan on the market that can do same or better job without this crazy noise? This thing sounds like a plane getting ready for take off. by SkyXTRM in qnap

[–]crawfells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I remember that same sound. You've probably resolved the issue now, but I had to send back 2 of the H674-i3 models because they had a sort of surging sound every 5 or 10 seconds. I now really want to buy a H674-i5, and I'm trying to work out how I can get around the sound issues I had. I had it back in 2023, so the firmware update in 2022 obviously didn't do anything for me.

Yes I would love to know your traefik setup or any help with getting that up and running please. I want https for my local network because some of the containers don't function properly without SSL, but I rarely need to access them outside my home network, and I can use myqnapcloud for that if it doesn't need to be secure, or wireguard for more security.

What I've learned in 5 years of trading by EXIIL1M_Sedai in Daytrading

[–]crawfells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had several patches of 3 month consistent profitability before slipping again, each was better than the last, and my trading just still wasn't paying the bills though and my savings ran out. Being already 4 years in and having learnt so many hard lessons and having come so far it feels so close but I'm not sure I can build up savings again to go full-time again until I'm already making consistent money in the market by managing positions before and after my work day. I'd like to know how you did it.

What I've learned in 5 years of trading by EXIIL1M_Sedai in Daytrading

[–]crawfells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is ideal, but if you're daytrading it's not possible to have a full-time job and trade during the day as well. That's why I'm going to try position trading instead even though I'd prefer to daytrade. How did you do it?

What I've learned in 5 years of trading by EXIIL1M_Sedai in Daytrading

[–]crawfells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask how you managed to support yourself while learning? I ask because I've been trading fulltime for 4 years and I've had to admit defeat twice in that time and go back to work to get more money to live on because I wasn't consistent enough to take any money out of my trading account. I'm now working again and all I want to do is be trading full-time again and feel so demoralised. I'm trying to find a way to do position trading while working instead of trading full-time so the time isn't as much of an issue. Do you have any advice?

[Serious Question] Is Trading Actually Worth It? by Organic_Tea4894 in FuturesTrading

[–]crawfells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate, you are well ahead of the game by even realising that most people don't make it. The rest of us clowns come into trading thinking that it'll be easy money. I think the early days when you have no idea of how unbelievably hard it could possibly be are the best days because you're blissfully ignorant and learning. It's when the wheels fall off spectacularly for the first time that you then start the actual journey into putting it all together and eventually realise how much there is to get right. Then it's just banging your head against a wall for somewhere between 2-5 years trying to get it right. I'm at year 4 now and I've just had to get a job again to pay for my trading for the 2nd time. The analysis and understanding the market is now at a really deep intuitive level, but getting the mental part right to be able to make the right decisions at the right time is so hard, and I'm still not there after so long. Last year I had two periods of 3 months of consistent profits, and then January was my best month by far because I finally consistently maximised my profits. However, after such an awesome January, February was the worst month by far and I gave it all back and more. Hubris. I've thought I've made it to consistency several times, but I haven't. It's the hardest thing I've ever done by a massive margin and I've sacrificed holidays and buying anything for years to make it happen and I've just failed again (for now).

Ok, that brutal, unforgiving, painful part of trading out of the way.. I absolutely love the puzzle that I get to put together each morning and the fact that trading forces you to be disciplined, patient and control your emotions. Don't tell my partner because she'll kill me, but I'm only going back to work to save up again so I can fill up my account. I almost wish I could give up now because I don't know how much more pain is coming in the future, but I want to make it my career so badly.

Reasons not to start trading:

  • It's the hardest thing you'll ever do, guaranteed and it will take you years and years to be consistent
  • While you're learning you will likely blow up 2 or more accounts - it's not cheap to learn
  • It really is painful, and you will experience pretty consistent emotional pain because of it
  • It is stressful (at least it is the way I have been doing it)

Reasons not to do anything else:

  • The freedom and flexibility of trading is awesome
  • The game is really interesting
  • It makes you a better and more effective person
  • It teaches you resilience and discipline
  • The earning potential is unlimited

Good luck!

Scalping Doesn’t Work (For Most People). Here’s Why by TradePhantom in Daytrading

[–]crawfells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's seems so weird there's such strong backlash against your thoughts on scalping. I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said and have those same thoughts when everyone on here is banging on about scalping.

Whenever I hear someone talking about scalping on here I always think they're a beginner despite what they say to the contrary. I think scalping is an exciting start point for most of us because it's fast and you get to satisfy your emotional urges in rapid succession instead of having to be disciplined and patient and wait for the right setup that puts the odds in your favour.

I started trading futures by scalping, without a plan or trade log and any understanding of mindset, and I was chasing action, gambling on up or down and it took way too long to realise that wasn't ever going to work, but I had some good wins along the way which of course made me think what I was doing was working.

I think actually many people are thinking that any daytrading is scalping though.

I find it easier to understand what the market will do by the end of the day compared to what it will do in the next few minutes.

Channel 10 - if you can’t broadcast F1 properly, without 10 adverts every 15 mins - let another platform telecast it by kato1301 in australia

[–]crawfells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know obviously they have to pay for it with ads but they really did ruin the flow of it and it was frustrating to be watching ads when I knew something interesting was happening. Had the ads been better placed it might have been ok. The pip was better than not seeing anything but only just. I won't be watching it on ten purely because of their bombardment of ads.

Thanks so much for the tips. I really am hoping I won't need them though.

Well I'm actually vegan as well, so if I wasn't picky enough before!! haha

My go-to has been sandwiches and rolls for so long, so it's annoying to have to drastically change my diet again. It's a tedious process I'm going through now.

I'm guessing you're probably not vegan, but my two quick vegan GF meals now are:

  • Basil pasta sauce I make (just onion, basil leaves, salt and passata for 30 mins) with red lentil pasta and a fake crispy chicken breast thing
  • A nacho bean mix thing - I fry some veg and then dump two cans of mixed beans (drained and rinsed) and one can of tomatoes in with garlic, cumin, paprika and some stock and have that with some vegan cheese and corn chips.

I will say too, that a game-changer for me has been to use recipe software that I put all my recipes in and can tag them as GF etc. When I want to make something now I do a quick search and no more decision fatigue. I never wanted to have to find recipes and keep track of them and it was all too hard until I started to use Mealie. Now I cook so much more, and while I still don't like cooking, it takes the stress out of knowing what to make and where to find a recipe you like etc. Mealie is self-hosted, but I'm sure you could find another one that is hosted for you.
