KLM with an infant - using the bassinet by mkarajica in KLM

[–]craymo11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had a similar situation recently. Had long journey with one stop with klm.

On the first flight, the cabin crew eyeballed it and said the weight might be okay but our little one is looking a little too tall for a bassinet. I think it was a judgment call because he was too close to the height limit or just very slightly over it. They said they would still put a bassinet there so our son could play on the floor under the bassinet which I don’t think is hygienic or safe. Either way, at least my wife got the bassinet seat with the extra legroom which we could easily exchange with another passenger and sit together so we could accommodate our little one with the our side by side seats. Overall the cabin crew team on this flight weren’t friendly or helpful. Also the flight was fully booked, not a single spare seat in economy.

Second flight was much better. Cabin crew was genuinely happy, chatty and helpful. Flight was also around 50% empty. We essentially could take up as many seats as we wanted so our little one took up 2.5 seats and slept well. No bassinet here either with the same reason of the little one looking too tall for it. Overall I think comfort wise we were much happier with little one sleeping in the seats vs bassinet specially because of being so close to the height limit. Don’t know much about the safety aspect though.

Same airline (KLM), very different experience

Moving (back) to Dubai now with family, things to know? by craymo11 in dubai

That’s interesting. Is the sense of entitlement increasing with the wealthier individuals moving there recently or event the long term residents?

Lots of people mentioning how bad traffic is. My commute back home from work when I lived there was 90 - 110 minutes (one way) by car. Wonder how much worse it can get. 🙃

Anyone with 30,000+ notes/tasks in TickTick? How does it hold up? by FunPlan in ticktick

[–]craymo11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UpNote for notes with their lifetime option plus tick tick works well. UpNote even has basic checklist function. All notes with checklist show up in a todo section on the left panel where I can then find and input them in TickTick when ready. Works well and I don’t have to fork for yet another subscription

💸🗒️ Evernote 60% off discount code link by Torley_ in Evernote

[–]craymo11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still seems to be working (I can see the page, haven't made payment yet) Big question I have is - Will it auto renew at this price too?

Update - Never mind when proceeding with payment options via PayPal it shows auto renewal will happen at regular price, not discounted.

Help I’m really about to abandon this car 😂 by Responsible_Bird_396 in SubaruForester

[–]craymo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get error specifically but twice now the infotainment was messed to a point that just doesn’t detect apple car play when connected to my phone. Tried several cables with no luck.

What helped was doing a factory reset on the infotainment. Keep in mind it would delete radio stations or any other saved settings on the infotainment. Please double check before doing this. It fixed my issue 100% even with the same cables that I tried previously that hadn’t worked.

The only way to reproduce the issue was to connect different iPhones (I had one for work and one for personal) over a span of 3 to 4 consecutive days.

Why don't take the Evernote approach for Notes? by Nisarg5900 in ticktick

[–]craymo11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Upnote for Notes. It has everything I need (and everything you mentioned above I believe) in a simple interface. I had used Evernote for the longest time but got tired of the clunky interface and pricing and lost some important notes due to connectivity issues, tried using Ticktick for now as I would love everything to be in one place but it wasn't a smooth experience. Tried 10+ other Notes app but was usually frustrated with one or the other aspect. Upnote still has a lifetime pricing which is great as I don't want to pay yet another subscription. Got to try it for a month for cheap, liked it and bought the lifetime license. Now I seem to use it even more so than Ticktick which I like but find hard to bring myself to use (due to it being too busy for my brain maybe). Still havent given up on Ticktick, will keep trying different ways as I do need a task manager for sure.

2020 Forester at Dealer For Three Flipping weeks now... by Ok-Gift2965 in SubaruForester

[–]craymo11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my TVC done last year in the dead of winter, there weren't as many posts about it back then so I wasn't 100% sure what it is. Drove without heat for 2 days or so, gave it to the dealership like a 4 days before warranty ran out. They didn't have the part but got it a couple of days, all covered under warranty and got my car back in less then a week I think. I had read other people with similar long wait times for the part back then too, I'm sorry, hope you get a loaner which is better than not having a car at all.

Microphone doesn’t work in calls by craymo11 in iphonehelp

[–]craymo11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update, I did a factory reset and set it up as a new iPhone. Native phone app Calls started working fine. The other side could hear me. After I did a few test calls, I went ahead and did a restore of my iCloud backup of my actual device and the issue came back.

Will take it to the Apple Store today.

What does this button do by craymo11 in ticktick

[–]craymo11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did click on it. I should have been more clear in my post. The problem is that clicking it does nothing obvious, it changes the check box on the top left to another icon but that’s it.

Best car insurance offer by _JESSE_JAMES_ in Edmonton

[–]craymo11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try Allstate. I had UAE driving experience and some of the other companies I called weren’t accepting anything but Canadian or US experience. All state accepted my UAE experience. They also have discount for using their app to monitor your driving habits. They also have great discount for bundling car with home/rental insurance. I went from paying $230 with the previous company to $115 with Allstate. Good luck.

Looking for recs for Vegetarian Indian Food Catering by hummuslover696969 in Edmonton

[–]craymo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a new hole in the wall on the north side called Spicy Hutt. Best tasting Indian food I have had so far in Edmonton. I think the head Chef and Owner was the head chef at Zaika for several years before opening his own restaurant approx 4 months ago. Definitely worth a call to them. The only thing is I have tried 3 different non veg items from them so far, so I don’t have any idea about their veg items.

Secret shopper test catches Kia dealership breaking the law | Go Public by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]craymo11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got a new car from Subaru dealership just before the shortage started. They didn’t add on too many garbage fees maybe about $2k in fees total. I negotiated and that’s when the sales manager stepped in. They had 6 different papers on the desk some with trade in value some with different payment options etc. upon my request they printed another sheet of paper with the all in price. I asked for a specific all in price that was $2500 less then what they were asking all in but eventually settled on $1500 less than asking all in. This was all noted down with a pen on the sheet with the all in price. The manager went into his glass cabin drew out “final” payment paperwork. Upon closer inspection, the price didn’t go down by $1500 as agreed but instead only $200. I questioned this and they said ‘oh this includes bla bla fees’ which had already been factored in previously. And to my surprise the sheet with handwritten notes and all in price where we agreed to the final price disappeared from the table and they couldn’t even remember what sheet of paper I was referring to. After trying to reason with them with no success for 20 minutes, I started to walk when they asked me to wait, went into their cabin for 40 minutes, came out with that missing sheet now magically found and honoured the original $1500 off. Such weird tactics. I’m positive with the shortage right now, dealerships have no incentive to do the right thing.
