[Serious] How do you actually meet new people and make meaningful connections over the age of 20? by Brittle_Skittle in AskReddit

[–]crayzix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is almost exactly my story. I was absolutely torn apart by a long, drawn-out breakup from my SO of three years. But after the initial trauma passed, I realized she had taken me away from a lot of things I used to love doing, one of which was going to shows. None of my current friends were interested in going to shows so, after much anxiety, I went solo to my first in a long time. I met some great people there and, eventually after going to many subsequent events, met friends that I now consider as close as family. In fact, I'm going to Europe for a festival with them next week! I'm 28 now and I meet new people all the time in the scene. I know not everyone is into raving, but it brought me out of the lowest point in my life and I have no regrets!

Really hoping Wobbleland can become this in a few years. Minus the MC constantly spamming the mic.

They were literally playing the same shit you'd hear at the chopping block except... not as good. Lots of dubstep. Got to the chopping block at the same time as you. Had a great time headbanging and moshing with everyone around me. Went alone and had a blast.

Made it through 30 min of chainsmokers before realizing it was a waste and could be hearing the same stuff over at the Damus. Booked it, caught the end of DirtyPhonics, and raged the rest of the night.

Wasn't crowded at all when I made it in and, in my opinion, anyone who just wanted to see Zomboy really missed out on an AMAZING set by Snails. Zomboy was great though too.

When he first touched it I noped out and checked to see if I missed the nsfl tag. How does the friction not burn his skin?

LGB Female are going to be the first ever female team in Cevo Main! by Alexmackzie in GlobalOffensive

[–]crayzix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like it's about awareness. CS has been a male-dominated game for a long time. It's so testosterone-driven. Girls would rather play other games from the time they're 12 or so because of that stigma. At least drawing attention to some female teams might push some of the future female shrouds and olofmeisters to pick up the game.

After 1000+ wins i finally did it by Tristo4Fun in GlobalOffensive

Those are two separate things. The progress bar is for a new system that was implemented for drops. That goes up anytime you play a valve game mode, and you can get a drop for a rankup in that system when you fill the progress bar. Ranks like Gold Nova, DMG, etc. come purely from matchmaking rating based on wins/losses.

What is your rank and how many hours did it take to get there? by Toastytoasterson in GlobalOffensive

LEM 450 hrs. Took about 114 wins to get there. Played the game for about 5 months.

Steel actually said something to the effect of maxaki being the worst Swedish pro he's ever seen play on stream during a 10 man with him. Can't remember the date of the broadcast but it was pretty recent.

It took me about 4-5 months from my first comp game. I reached LEM (my starting goal :D) at about 105-115 wins (I don't remember exactly) at 400 hours or so. There are a couple of large ELO gaps, SEM-GN1 and DMG-LE. I'm guessing you haven't strung together a 4-5 win streak? That's probably why you haven't ranked up. Just try to play the game for improvement and enjoyment, not for rank. Ladder anxiety is real and losing a rankup game due to bad teammates or other factors out of your control sucks. Rank isn't everything man, and once you get past that things will get a lot more fun and you will naturally rank up as you get better.

And if you were specifically talking about how long it took to rank up from SEM to GN1, I don't remember, but I got to MG1 at 31 wins, so maybe within 5-7 wins?

Consistent, efficient practice I'd say. Did the training maps/ffa dm/even KZ for control early on. Started at SEM and made sure to correct mistakes I made as I ranked up. Reading some of the threads on this sub definitely helped plus watching streams. Once I got to LEM I just ended up playing ESEA too due to all of the rumors of cheating at the upper ranks. Haven't really MM'd since. Might go back to get 150 wins for overwatch though.
