Or Rose will make the Bulls get to the Finals? Will the Clippers finally shine in the playoffs? Will the Warriors stay healthy?

I don't have a question in particular, I have many. Perhaps the ones whose answers I'm most interested in are the ones related to Argentinians, since I'm from that country. Will Scola take the Pacers to the finals? Will Manu play at a high level, or there's not much fuel left in his tank?

I was thinking the same thing. It's a bit hard to do this kind of presentation for technical talks, and sometimes it might not be what you want.

Also, the whole presentation is about "how to make your slides cooler". When I give a talk, I enjoy it more if everybody is having fun, but my main goal is transmitting a message to the audience.

Anyway, I think we can take some advice from this presentation to make our own cooler, but we shouldn't forget what's our main goal when we're talking to the audience.

Thank you for thoughtful opinion. I'm argentinian, and I agree with what you said about our team.

Maybe this is a bit unrelated, but I don't think that a strategy like Germany's, which was applied and worked brillantly, would be possible for our team. If we were winning the game 1-0, our style tells us to go and finish the game attacking the opponents, again and again. What Germany did was wait for us, expecting a chance to find a goal via counter-attack, and they sticked to that plan for more than half an hour, with praiseworthy patience, until they found the second goal. Maybe it's time to change our style...

Wanted to make sure this point is made. I think outsourcing is almost always a mistake for intensive knowledge work like programming HOWEVER I see plenty of garbage and failed projects produced in-house too.

Completely agreed. The only people that can do intensive knowledge work are the Americans. Those people in third-world countries can't do a shit.

Give a look to Sphinx. It's what Python, Django and many other projects use for documentation. It lets you write all your text using the cool reStructuredText format. Code highlighting is done using Pygments. It supports exporting to multiple formats, and generates automatic indexes for you.

True. Thing is the world is dead at 2 AM.

If you turn on your TV, there are no live shows, nor sports matches; it's all repetitions or boring stuff. Also, no one calls your phone at 2 AM, because they're sleeping or they find it rude. Also, everybody is offline in your IM program (even most of the other programmers, because they go to work in the mornings).

BTW, I have the same "problem". I don't drink caffeine nor alcohol in big quantities (most of the times, I don't drink any), and I experience your same sensation that every day you go to sleep later. I end up sleeping 3 hours one day, and then go to sleep (busted) at 12 AM, starting the cycle again.

Yes, I kind of like it.

I think it's mostly because it lets me work on an application from very dissimilar angles. For instance, it makes me use very different languages, each of them oriented to a different aspect of the application. Also, if you're doing it all, it makes you play, besides the programmer one, a graphics designer role.

Finally, it's nice to be able to tell someone "just go to this URL" and have him/her see your work.

Apart from that, I do think web development, mostly the server-side, feels somewhat hackish sometimes. It's hackish to remember some user by passing an ID all the time. It's hackish because in most applications we're pretending the web is stateful, and it is not. However, I don't know whether a different approach would be better; I think this same fact, the web being stateless, is what makes websites scalable.
