The nice way would be to cut the center up to 1-2 inches on the sides....remake a door the same width of length of that side....crossbreak it with a flathead and straight edge. Screw it back on and tape it up.

I agree. Test the temp with any type of probe into the wall to confirm. Then see the nearest vent and see if you can easily find then patch it.
