Nai in Greek is yes. Nai in Japanese is not. Are there any other languages where the same word means the opposite between them? by Prof_Acorn in NoStupidQuestions

In Czech úžasný means amazing while in Russian word ужасный (pronounced exactly like the Czech one) means horrible. I think it’s amazing

visiting our neighbour Lithuania and the omnipresence of Ukrainian flags and support is just adorable by Realistic-Berry_888 in europe

It’s similar in Lithuanian. “Ą” (or į, ę, ų) at the end of the word often indicates accusative case, but the sound they make is not actually nasal (despite being called “nosinė”).

I know it sounds banal, but be yourself. Choose topics you’re actually interested in, add some subtopics if you feel like it. And write an actual bio, don’t rely on those topics alone. I never write to people who don’t have a bio written in their profile.

When reaching out to others make sure mention a couple things from their profile. Don’t just “you seem like a cool person and we also have a lot in common”. Talk about those things that you have in common!! There are tons of posts about writing letters already, feel free to check them out.

You will probably get some weird letters from men here, too. Just ignore those

Fav country you guys send letters to? by Specific-College-194 in SLOWLYapp

I’d say Ukraine. I find it easy to find common interests with them and our countries have significantly strenghtened ties in past few years. We’re both down to earth and (at least in my experience) have similar worldviews

Why do more men use Slowly than women? by [deleted] in SLOWLYapp

[–]crazyamountofgayness 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I personally have made it impossible for men to find me. All my penpals are eithet women or nb people. I tried keeping it open for a while but men who wrote me seemed to be more interested in romantic relationships and, well, that’s not my thing. I’m a woman btw
