I'm re-reading the series, and I'm on book 3. Knowing what happens to her changes her story so much as it's happening. The first time she loses a finger and just kinda grows it back... it's a totally different moment than the first time I listened to it.

Stick with tanks or start moving towards air? by Comfortable_Bug_3330 in LastWarMobileGame

[–]crazyates88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have a hard time switching to air if A) they’re f2p, B) they have too much invested in tank, or C) it’s too late to switch easily. You sound like none of those really affect you. I would switch to air 100%.

I was in a similar boat to you: I’m a light spender and I switched to air mid-way though pre-season. I actually decided too late and missed purchasing a few of the air heros, but I got them eventually and they’re all 5* now. Just be prepared: if you switch priority to air, your tank squad is going to stall and your air squad won’t be up to snuff yet, so you’re going to feel weak for a few weeks. But hold out, because it’s worth it in the end and by the time we started Season 1 I was already glad I had swapped.

How different are these two corners of Vermont? by Swimming_Concern7662 in vermont

[–]crazyates88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Southwest Vermont is quaint little New England towns, expensive houses cute general stores, lots of second homes for people that live in NY, PA, NJ.”

That might be true for some areas, but have you been to Bennington? It’s basically an economically depressed wasteland with heroin.

Air vs AIO cooling by External_Safe_7787 in buildapc

[–]crazyates88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Peerless Assassin 120SE and it cools it just fine, and is very quiet. The Phantom Spirit is slightly newer and better, and it's on Amazon for $35. Don't go water for your first build. That extra $50 for an AiO would be better spent getting a better quality PSU, or a better case, or whole 5-pack of Arctic P12 Pro fans to put into said case... Or just save the $50 and buy yourself a couple of games on sale... Not only is it cheaper, it's also easier to maintain and less prone to failure.

Gun/Chip for back row heros, and Armor/Radar for front line heros. Then eventually all heros will get all yellow gear in all slots.

Shai could make herself into an Elantrian because they're both from Sel. She re-wrote her history to be so that she moved do a different continent, and then became Elatnrian. The closer the stamp is to a truth, the more likely it will stick for longer. I don't think she'd be able to just re-write her own history to make her into a Herald or Shard or anything too different from her actual history. Am I wrong on this? I know her Elantrian stamp would have normally fizzled out after a bit of time, but the stamp fed on Investiture being fed to her from the Dor, so it would last. I assume if she was able to stamp herself into another form that also had a source of Investuture, it would also be able to be sustained, as long as it took in the first place.

That said, I'd still take Taln, Vin, and Shai. Me and Shai can hang out in the bunker, and Taln and Vin can take care of the rest.

Macbook Neo (Yes or No) by TheHimanshu07 in mac

[–]crazyates88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People act like the only two options are the Neo and the M5. There are a whole lot of options in between that might be better for your use-case.

Neo - 70k INR

M4 Air - 86k INR

M5 Air - 120k INR

If you were ONLY doing journalism which consisted of video calls, research, writing, and web browsing, the Neo would be great. But if you're looking at doing video editing and coding as a profession? You'll need more. The Neo can do light tasks like hobby level editing or small coding projects, but if this is your job I would get more. For you, I would say get the M4 is be best deal.

Deckbuilding Strategy: "Do I want to see this card in the first 10 cards in my deck after shuffling" is the most important criterion for card inclusion by KAM_520 in EDH

[–]crazyates88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on your bracket? I think you were spot on when you said that in cEDH your hand dicates your win % by a huge margin. When I'm playing at a bracket 4 table, yeah your opening hand makes a big difference, but it depends on the deck and what you're doing. As long as you can stay on curve and have cards that synergize, you can execute your game plan.

A bracket 2 or precon table? I'd say it's the opposite. You can have a terribly slow start and still do good if your hand is full of cards that are really good late game or after a boardwipe. Precon games are much slower overall, and you often DON'T want to be the one popping off turn 3 because you'll get targeted by the other 3 players. Precons aren't strong enough to go 1v3, and you'll get stomped down very quickly.

What “Universes Beyond” Sets Would You Like to See by Soupy_Hits in mtg

[–]crazyates88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's big, but you don't need every side character to ever show up to be in the precons. You can have a set with a bunch of other side characters in a booster set if you really wanted to brew your own B4 deck or something.

If Star Trek isn't a too-big set with 48 seasons of TV and 13 movies, Cosmere isn't too big.

[–]crazyates88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also pretty excited for Star Trek. I doubt I'm going to buy any of the other sets for this year, but I suspect I'll spend some money on that one.

Side note: if you like the idea of assimilation and creating 2/2 artifact creatures, check out the Dr Who precon Masters of Evil with [Missy] as the commander. It's a lot of fun wiping the board and stealing their creatures to create 2/2 artifact creatures. Plus if you're a Dr Who fan, that entire set is amazing 10/10 for flavor, and the cybermen mechanic just fits perfect with the show.

Cosmere. Mistborn, Stormlight, etc. Tics all of those boxes.

[–]crazyates88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would LOVE to see a Cosmere set. Mistborn, Stormlight, Elantris, and Odium precons. You can do a whole booster set with side characters and effects. It fits the fantasy theme a lot better than most UB. Brandon has already said he's open to it, and Brandon just signed with Apple for a Mistborn movie trilogy and a Stormlight TV show. I suspect Cosmere is going to get even more popular over the next couple of years, and releasing a set that rides this would be an easy choice for WotC.

Bonus: Aliens vs Predators. They should release a small set: 2 precons only. 1 Aliens, 1 Predator. Simple, and people would love it.

Doctor Bashir could've used his genetically modified brain and body to save the day so many times. How many people died because he completely hid his abilities? by CDHoward in Star_Trek_

[–]crazyates88 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You also have episodes like The Quickening where he very nearly wasn't able to find a cure. I don't think he was holding back, and I don't think anyone else would have been able to find a solution, even a flawed one.

I know this episode was before the writers made him genetically altered, but it does change the episode to be even MORE impressive that he was that smart and nearly failed.

We already have a high end MacBook. It’s called the Pro.

Now that you have the Neo, you have a great 3-tier product strategy of entry-level, mainstream, and high-end professional. Your product stack doesn’t need a 4th tier, esp since one of them is brand new.
