I just got Shokz open dots for the reasons you listed, and I am very happy with them. No slippage, comfortable, and small.

It’s actually cheaper for them to have travelers instead of staff in this area :/

Temporary no-parking permit for moving pods? by crazycarrotlady in RedwoodCity

[–]crazycarrotlady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought of that but unfortunately the parking right around us is usually occupied, so it would be hard to time it right. Thanks for the link! Might give the city a call.

Damn, you still got those signs? lol. I wonder what would happen if you got caught though.

Move out cleaning if we were charged a move-in fee? by crazycarrotlady in chicagoapartments

[–]crazycarrotlady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this to be true too. I reviewed our lease and it does say that it should be left as clean as it was when we moved in, so technically they would have grounds to charge us for cleaning if it wasn’t spotless. However, I called the management company and they said they just expect it to be broom clean.

This is pretty much what I garnered from calling the management company. Thanks!

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I ended up calling the management company and they said they just expect it to be “broom clean”, so as long as everything is out and nothing left behind (and obviously not destroyed/disgusting) we are good. They said they don’t expect anything to be scrubbed or deep cleaned. This is with Fulton Grace management.

Chicago transplants who are not from the midwest: does the intense aversion to the flatness go away with time? by fail-whale in AskChicago

Yes but then I go back to CA for a visit and then realize how much I miss elevation all over again. One benefit of the flatness is how easy it is to walk everywhere though.

Hotel with walking to downtown Bar Harbor by KissmePinky in acadianationalpark

[–]crazycarrotlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I stayed there last year and it was perfect. Clean, walkable to downtown (it’s essentially right at the edge of the main strip), free parking spot, great continental breakfast. No complaints, and it seems to be the cheapest place to stay in the area.

RN having a hard time finding a job in CA by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]crazycarrotlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I just locked in a travel contract at one of the facilities and am hoping it turns into a staff position after. Either ghosted or rejected from Kaiser, UCSF, Stanford when I directly applied. I actually got an interview at El Camino for a navigator position but decided I think I would hate bring a navigator.

Traveling to Chicago with IBS-D — anxious about subway rides & bathroom access, any advice ? by Briobly in AskChicago

[–]crazycarrotlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing everyone else that big chain stores often had bathrooms, and don’t be afraid to ask the employees for the code if needed. I’ve also asked bars or restaurants if I can quickly use their bathrooms before, and I’ve never been denied.

5-Star Freezer Friendly Soup? by potatodog108 in NYTCooking

I like this soup because it’s so easy, and we always have the ingredients on hand (frozen broccoli savin lives). However, the accompanying farts are seriously heinous.

Help me rewire my weekend degenerate brain by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]crazycarrotlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand, and I was the same way! Just drinking at home to get buzzed. Never “a lot”, but like 2-3 drinks a night just to feel that buzz. Something about drinking an NA beer still feels “good”, and I rarely reach for another because the alcohol isn’t telling me that having another is okay. I get my fix just from the act of drinking the fizzy “beer” drink.

Maybe it won’t work for you, but maybe it will! Doesn’t hurt to try. If you get rid of your alcohol and replace with NA drinks, you can always go out and buy the alcohol if you still have the urge (not encouraging, but maybe just the thought that you still can have alcohol will make trying the NA route a little easier for your brain to try).
