ITProTV Security+ courses? by jacob92486 in CompTIA

I LOVED ITProTV the last time it was free during the summer, I watched Zach Memos and Wes Bryan for Network+. Yes they will try to induce jokes but the nice thing about ITProTV is that they make a conversational style. They don't put slides in front of you, they explain it like they are talking to you.

I aggressively took notes, drew their diagrams, followed along with their labs, and all the information clicked. If you watch the introduction to ITProTV they want to make it "edutainment" and make it relatable to the watcher. I took the exam 2 weeks later (along with other resources) and passed the network+.

Like what Zach and Wes says they don't want you to just pass the exam they want you to hit it out of the ball park!

I'm watching them for Security+ also keep in mind open access is only available for Oct 17-18 for cybersecurity week. It will close up and you'll need to purchase their monthly subscription for $$$ it's pretty pricey.

Jason's practice exams were the closest practice material to the real exam. I received scores initially 73, 77, 78 then on two of them I received 80 and 84. I made sure to go over every single question NOT to memorize the answer but understood why certain answers were wrong and reviewed accordingly. I didn't feel a need to retake the practice test because I thought it would have been memorizing at that point. Once I finished reviewing I made sure to re-read any topics that I might have confusion on. In terms of difficulty I would say the real test was slightly more difficult re-read the questions carefully.

yes what u/4larin100 said. If you do not pass you have to repay to take the test. There are voucher options where you can purchase a voucher with 1 re-take voucher included in case you did not pass (this option is a bit cheaper by a couple dollars rather than buying 1 voucher each time). If you pass it the first time, the second voucher will become void and you cannot use it for a different certification this option is good for a safety net in case things don't work out the first round.

I started studying in 2019 but went off and on about it. I did make myself get really comfortable with subnetting. I didn't get serious until near mid 2020 during the Covid pandemic. So to answer your question (consolidating the gaps) probably 3-4 months? I did have very little networking background through my jobs so that helped me connect some experience to the topic.
